• #298 - Strength in Your 40s: Mastering Body Composition for Women Over 40 with Craig McDonald

In our latest group coaching call, Coach Craig focused on the essential strategies for achieving effective body recomposition, especially for women over 40. Here’s a glimpse of what he discussed:

    👉Strength Training for Muscle Growth:

Craig highlighted the importance of lifting heavier weights with proper form and consistency. Building muscle requires patience and progressively challenging your body. Craig provided personalized feedback on members’ training regimens, emphasising that sustainable muscle growth takes time and effort.

    👉Proper Nutrition:

Adequate nutrition is crucial for supporting muscle growth and recovery. He discussed the need for a balanced diet rich in protein and sufficient calories to fuel workouts. Avoiding excessively low-calorie diets is important to prevent muscle loss and maintain energy levels.

    👉Setting Realistic Goals:

Craig addressed the common frustration of not seeing immediate results. He explained that while fat loss can be quickly visible, muscle building is a slower process. Setting realistic expectations and celebrating small progress is key to staying motivated.

    👉Strength Goals Before Fat Loss:

Craig stressed the importance of hitting specific strength milestones before entering a fat loss phase. For example, achieving certain weights in lifts like the Romanian deadlift, squat, and bench press ensures you have enough muscle mass to maintain during a calorie deficit. This approach prevents muscle loss and enhances overall body composition.

    👉Mindset and Consistency:

Shifting from a short-term goal mindset to embracing a long-term lifestyle change is vital. Consistency in both training and nutrition, along with a positive mindset, can lead to significant and sustainable body recomposition.

This coaching call with Craig showcases the personalised support and expert advice our members receive in our Group Coaching Program + App.

  • #289 - How you can harness the power of carbs to lose weight with Mike Fave

A few weeks ago I had Mike Fave on the podcast. Mike is an independent researcher with a wealth of knowledge on diet and metabolic health. I first met him on a podcast with Danny Roddy and Jay Feldman and just thought he was a great guy 👏

In this podcast we dive deep into a topic that's often misunderstood: sugar, juice and fruit. Many women in our program come from restrictive dieting backgrounds, cutting out sugar completely, fearing it like it's the devil. They even equate a glass of orange juice to a can of soft drinks.

Mike helps us break down these misconceptions.

He shares his journey through various diets, from bodybuilding to keto, and how he now focuses on reading research directly. His experience as a nurse, especially during COVID, and his work in health consulting gives him a unique perspective.

We discuss how sugar, particularly fructose, has been unfairly demonised. Mike explains that sugar is a vital fuel source, and the real issue lies in what sugar is often packaged with in processed foods. We also touch on how many women develop a fear-based mentality around food, leading to unhealthy cycles of restriction and bingeing.

Mike provides practical advice for those transitioning from low-carb diets. He suggests slowly lowering fat intake while increasing carbs from whole food sources, like fruits and some starches, before introducing more rapidly digesting carbs like juice.

This episode is packed with insights on how to nourish your body properly, find food freedom, and enjoy delicious, balanced meals without fear. If you're ready to transform your relationship with food and embrace a healthier, happier lifestyle, this episode is for you.

🎙️ Ep 282 Losing 7 kgs, improving her sleep and relationship with food with Bel Harris

In the latest episode of the "Weight Loss for Women" podcast, I had the incredible opportunity to chat with one of our inspiring clients, Belinda, a 51-year-old powerhouse from Sydney, juggling the demands of motherhood, studies, and a physically demanding job as a postal worker. Her story is one of resilience, transformation, and the journey towards a healthier, happier self.

Belinda's struggle with weight began early in life, shaped by a childhood where the importance of never wasting food was deeply ingrained. This led to years of yo-yo dieting and a challenging relationship with food, one that many of us can relate to. Despite trying every diet under the sun and facing the frustration of fleeting successes, Belinda's turning point came when she realized the need for a change, not just for her family, but for herself.

Joining our program marked the beginning of Belinda's true transformation. She shared how adopting a healthier attitude towards food and learning that it's possible to enjoy eating without deprivation or guilt has been a game-changer. The results speak for themselves: losing 7.3 kg, shedding 5.9% body fat, and embracing a newfound confidence in her body and self.

Belinda's journey underscores the program's holistic approach, focusing on nourishment, mindset, and sustainable habits rather than restrictive dieting. Her story is a testament to the power of self-care, accountability, and the incredible support system our coaching team provides.

For anyone on the fence about taking the first step towards a healthier lifestyle, Belinda's advice is clear: the investment in your health and happiness is invaluable. Her transformation is not just about the physical changes but the profound impact on her mental and emotional well-being.

It's stories like hers that fuel my passion for helping women achieve their health and fitness goals in a way that's empowering, sustainable, and rooted in self-love.
