• Episode 5. Nida Leardprasopsuk on Branding, Positioning and Pricing Service-Based Businesses

Interview with Nida Leardprasopsuk - international business coach, branding and marketing strategist for service-based business.

In this episode we talk about positioning, branding and sales strategy. About finding your niche and identifying your target customer's problem in order to present them with a solution. We talk about the advantage of becoming known as the top expert in a narrow field vs. providing a service tailored to a wide audience. We also cover pricing strategy and how to attract new clients. Some of the things we identify as key success factors include kindness and etiquette. People are looking for real connections in an age of chatbots, automated in-mails and responses. We also go over how Covid has impacted the way we do business and go over the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people, who are going to support you in achieving your life's mission.

  • Episode 4. Podcasting

Podcasts are unique in that they allow the audience to freely engage in other activities while listening. The growing popularity of podcasts (about 20% year on year) and podcast usage stats seem to suggest that this practical nature is something, that really appeals to people. The growing availability of subjects and episodes, means this is a trend that will definitely keep growing.

I am sure that having created a podcast of my own, will give me far greater insights into what is important when creating, developing and growing a podcast, than if I were to just read about the subject and I want to share that journey with you. In this episode, I talk about what I have learnt so far, like what platform to host your podcast on for free or the importance of voice when you don’t have any visual aids and cannot use body language. I also share some things I discovered connected more broadly to public speaking and storytelling, like the power of threes in crafting the structure of your podcast or the power of vulnerability in presenting yourself to your audience.

I finish with the consideration of sonic branding, as something that’s bound to become important in the age of smart speakers and home pods.

  • Episode 3. Social Media Burnout

In this episode I talk about social media anxiety and the importance of being mindful, taking a break and giving yourself the space to regenerate your energy away from social media platforms, when your emotions indicate burnout.

With the increased time that we are spending on social media these days, trying to substitute real world connection with online interactions, we can see an increase in negative emotions being experienced by those exposed to the “highlight reels” of other people’s lives published online.

This negative sensation affects influencers and people who work with social media on an everyday basis, at an even higher level. It can manifest with serious physical symptoms, not unlike those of depression and should not be ignored.

Unfortunately, influencers experience immense pressure to perpetually create, post and interact with their communities, because the algorithms that promote their content online, are written to reward constant activity. It can be very underwhelming and demotivating, for content creators, when they spend a lot of time on a certain project and it underperforms, just because the algorithm didn’t pick it up. On top of this, influencers tend to feel a lot of guilt if they decide to take some time for themselves, because there is no clear separation between their work and private lives.

In the end social media is all about community. Being vulnerable and honest with your audience about needing some time off, will most likely, provide exactly the kind of understanding necessary to feel ok about taking that break to regenerate.

Leaning into burnout can be a powerful way to deal with whatever is going on and to eventually get back on track and feel creative again.
