This is Faith to Witness 99 Motivating us to leave the 99 and go find the one. 

Here’s a takeaway that travels well from this week’s episode. 

How someone responds is not a reflection of my witness. 

My witness is not a debate of perception vs perception. 

Jesus has already won the argument. There are uncomfortable moments and potential outcomes in any conversation: 

• Not being able to scripturally feed someone who has opened up with spiritual hunger
• Having the same conversation over and over again
• Not knowing the answer 
• Blowing the moment, what you perceive as the only chance to connect 
• Feeling a relationship go lukewarm, and begin to slip away
• Feeling a relationship turn colder
• Losing a relationship completely

Sometimes we abandon spiritual truth in exchange for immediate human camaraderie in this life. We compromise his image and live as if Psalm 139 is just so long ago.

We turn away from that which endures every conversation, every relationship.  

Yet our beloved John, the apostle tells us:

1 John 2:17

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

Bearing my witness is deeply personal. It requires I share personal convictions that live privately, in the most sacred corner of my heart. Taking these convictions public compromises my privacy. Yet nothing is private to my divine God. I can go forward with his sovereign confidence, that he will protect what we have together in the space between those who may try to reduce him to something other than sovereign by their words.

Jeremiah 32:17: "Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you."

God puts you in conversation with someone to represent who he is by how he made you.

01. You give them something to eat

We must see a crowd without the Shepherd. Compassion makes that possible. It triggers accountability as we stand with Jesus on whatever hillside our sheep are roaming.

02. Freewill defines your offering

When we take into account what we have, free will defines our offering. Like Jesus, we lift up what we have to God in thanksgiving. Our offering, submitted to him, so we can feed his sheep. 

03. Save what you learn 

God fills our spiritual basket with sustenance, foresight, wisdom to feed the next crowd gathering in our day, our life. Or that lone sheep that is wandering through the dusk… hungry. So, do this: save what you learn for the next time.

Re-release - When You Say, “It’s Complicated.” (I Say, “God Chose Complicated.”) (originally published October 8 2025) 

Here’s the gist, human. We find solace in repeating decisions that allow us to retreat from what is uncomfortable. We think we are making good decisions. We ask God to direct us. Yet because we cannot see how it is possible that he can navigate the decisions of people out of our control, well, we stand at the window like a child, watching for his next move when barely a minute has passed in the presence of a timeless God. We fall into resignation when our situation, our relationship continues on with no change, no turn for the better. This sounds like some spiraling indie reality, but we actually do this in lives that aren’t half-bad. Tolerable. We let what we don’t like, no longer want to deal with “go dark” inside.

Here’s the gist, human. Peter’s first letter is impassioned, truth-seared, and glorious. It comes from his experiences, that he has lived his life trading measure for measure, that what he does in action, will receive a reciprocal spiritual strengthening. That spiritual maturity is embracing the glory-bound spiritual gain of things. His life convinces us of this: that a full investment in our obedience yields the highest spiritual return. 

We can’t not hear Peter.

My faith is defined by my spiritual maturity in action, my truth on the ground. God’s Word illuminates my faith by what I do. 

So I ask us, “how much clearer does God need to be?

Here’s the gist, human. Nothing new here. Who doesn’t have anxiety, who doesn’t work hard to not worry and perpetuate more of it in the process? For so many of us, that is an ongoing rhetorical state of mind. We don’t even need to answer. We know it’s true. 

Let’s call anxiety exactly what it is. Let’s name it to God. A petition of the heart. That we take it to him, and let him measure the depth of our anxiety against the scope of its reach in our life. Because our God is sovereign.

Here’s the gist, human.  What do you imagine God has prepared for you? Moses lived a hard-fought testimony and died in the arms of God. (or so I envision it). Today we consider obedience gone rogue, two strikes on a rock and a God who represents his holiness. We explore a shepherd’s mental path: Forget not. Accept. Trust. We climb Mount Nebo to see how Moses left this earth. An obedient servant. With a distant view of the Promised Land alongside the God he served. It breaks my heart in all the right places.

Season 3 Episode 200 When the Enemy Exploits Your Vulnerability and Vantage Point (Jesus bears witness in the wilderness)

Here’s the gist, human. I have always thought of the wilderness days of Jesus face to face with Satan as pretty much hands off, spiritually. Just so powerful. Actually, scary. Unfathomable. But my Bible read-thru right now stopped me here, on Matthew, Chapter 4. On this read-thru it became so personal. Boldly put, that the enemy is always searching for when you are deeply vulnerable. Satan will try to take you to the highest earthly vantage point, to whatever worldly temptation will send you into a spiritual spin. He will con you with kingdoms promising independence with earthly crowds chanting your name. 

If you bow down and chant his name.

Matthew 4:8-10

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”

Season 3 Episode 198 Part 2 - Wisdom for Your Witness Is Not a Random Gift (why wisdom costs us everything)

Here’s the gist, human. I am all in on seeking wisdom. Being chased by spiritual conviction about this sure improves my commitment to it… coupled with God’s Word. Plenty of his Word in this episode because the truth works on shaping a discerning heart in each of us. Every word, every verse. Join us as we work our way to why wisdom will cost us everything. 

Because when we seek wisdom we are pursuing a life lived deep within God’s character. And, although he brings discernment one thought at a time, one decision in a moment, one reflection in our past, we can embrace the nature of his wisdom through obedience, and, through something as simple as a walk through his creation. 

And seeking the mystery of his Son. 

Colossians 2:2-3

2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

We are giving wisdom a longer leash as we consider a few words from the king who God made “wiser than all the people of the East.” I wasn’t preparing to focus on wisdom. Or, for a two-part episode. But God has a plan. So now I’m curious. And we need to hear it.

1 Kings 3:8-9

8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

Season 3 Episode 197 Jesus Saves You By Your Name. (human for human)

Here’s the gist, human. The world tells us we are one of many. The world tells us we are one of too many. A face in a crowd. A follower on a dashboard. A buyer of the best-selling item. An ancestral spec on the canvas of centuries played out. 

But when it comes right down to who we really are, life is personal. 

Today is undeniably personal. We live from moment to moment through our senses, our intellectual acuity, our emotional energy, gliding on the breadth and depth of our spiritual wing span. Does that even need to be said? Yes. It does. Because this is the foundation on which we have a relationship with Jesus. 

John 10:3: "The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out."

Humanity was not saved by a divine army of heavenly chariots carrying kingdom warriors. Humanity was not saved by a divine power dictating from Heaven’s throne. No, a divine being became flesh. A divine being, the Word, became the Son of Man, one human who walked this earth in perfect harmony with his Heavenly Father. 

He hung on the cross human for human.

Season 3 Episode 196 Part 2 - Ezekiel, A Watchman Who Witnesses the Glory of God (linen, cherubim and the glory weight of your witness)

Here’s the gist, human. Pausing to picture the glory of God as Ezekiel experienced it is a weighty proposition. The sound of cherubim, the vision of a throne made of lapis lazuli, and a Spirit that pulls us to our feet. Glowing metal. Fire. A place for the soles of God’s feet. 

The weightiness of our Creator. A Creator who hovered over the Genesis waters to shape the only world we have ever known. A Heavenly Father who designed his own desire to dwell with us in the earthly space he created for us. 

I want to see that. I want to see what Ezekiel saw. Do you?

Ezekiel 10:4

4 Then the glory of the Lord rose from above the cherubim and moved to the threshold of the temple. The cloud filled the temple, and the court was full of the radiance of the glory of the Lord.

Season 3 Episode 195 A Watchman Who Witnesses the Glory of God (I have a spirit-crush on Ezekiel)

Here’s the gist, human. Ezekiel was a man that listened to God tell him about the “river” and a hope for the future. A man that God took further, beyond the exile, to the return, and the exacting nature of his glory and how he would dwell again with his people. A man that heard God describe his glory. And who showed him what it looked like. A man that heard God prophecy this: “The Lord is there.” A man living through his prophetic life with such spiritual endurance that it makes me feel closer to God. With all my senses.

I mean. That is my spirit-crush.

It comes in two parts. The first part is Ezekiel, the watchman. The witness. 

And the second part is what Ezekiel saw, what he experienced of the glory of God. 

Ezekiel 3:16-21

16 At the end of seven days the word of the Lord came to me: 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 

Today we look at how God calls Ezekiel, and how God defines being a witness in the life of Ezekiel. Although I think it is something of a challenge to think of a prophet as a role model, Ezekiel makes me think it is possible.

Daniel 3:16-18

16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Season 3 Episode 193 Your Past is Lived Out. Your Present Belongs to Jesus. (gather God’s morning manna)

Here’s the gist, human. We crave a blank slate. Starting again. I can picture the excitement of the Israelites packing for the exodus. 

Everyone loves a blank slate. But when the post Red Sea reality settles in, we begin to romanticize the past. 

The free fish, the cucumbers, the lemons, the garlic.

We crave that which we no longer have now that we see it in the rearview mirror. 

Numbers 11:4-6

4 The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”

Sometimes God leads our exodus to a future we didn’t plan for. A future we didn’t want. I show up a little heroic in these circumstances, veiling my perspective in an undying commitment to God’s Will, but my soul continues to pine for what I am leaving behind.

Season 3 Episode 192 When You Just Need a Joy Boost (David, Peter, Jesus to elevate your attitude)

Here’s the gist, human. Sometimes we just need to jumpstart some joy. The kind of elation and inspiration that only comes from our Creator. We need God to pump us up. And he can. So if you are feeling, depressed, discouraged, distraught, disengaged, and maybe just plain low, join us for a little joy boost. 

I had other insights in mind for today, powerful verses, scenes I just travelled in my Bible trek, I just finished living through 39 kings endnote ruling Queen in the divided kingdom… but God handed me a mighty mandate. 

To talk about the power of his Joy today.

And remember, human, that his Word is God-breathed. When you hear his Word picture God filling your spirit with a crazy, enduring energy, an eternal assurance that your life, your purpose, well, his purpose for you, is worthy in the name of his Son. An affirmation deep within your heart that defies all the crusty defeats your earthly life is throwing at you. 

1 Peter 1:8-9

8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Today, joy boost 1, 2, and 3. Take it in and pass it along to someone who needs it BAD right now.
