We fall into resignation when our situation, our relationship continues on with no change, no turn for the better. This sounds like some spiraling indie reality, but we actually do this in lives that aren’t half-bad. Tolerable. I have always thought of the wilderness days of Jesus face to face with Satan as pretty much hands off, spiritually. Just so powerful. Actually, scary. Unfathomable. But my Bible read-thru right now stopped me here, on Matthew, Chapter 4. On this read-thru it became so personal. Boldly put, that the enemy is always searching for when you are deeply vulnerable. Satan will try to take you to the highest earthly vantage point, to whatever worldly temptation will send you into a spiritual spin. He will con you with kingdoms promising independence with earthly crowds chanting your name. If you bow down and chant his name.Matthew 4:8-108 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”So we go there today. Join us for this final episode of Season 3. I am all in on seeking wisdom. Being chased by spiritual conviction about this sure improves my commitment to it… coupled with God’s Word. Plenty of his Word in this episode because the truth works on shaping a discerning heart in each of us. Every word, every verse. The world tells us we are one of many. The world tells us we are one of too many. A face in a crowd. A follower on a dashboard. A buyer of the best-selling item. An ancestral spec on the canvas of centuries played out.  But when it comes right down to who we really are, life is personal.  Today is undeniably personal. We live from moment to moment through our senses, our intellectual acuity, our emotional energy, gliding on the breadth and depth of our spiritual wing span. Does that even need to be said? Yes. It does. Because this is the foundation on which we have a relationship with Jesus.  John 10:3: &#34;The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.&#34; Humanity was not saved by a divine army of heavenly chariots carrying kingdom warriors. Humanity was not saved by a divine power dictating from Heaven’s throne. No, a divine being became flesh. A divine being, the Word, became the Son of Man, one human who walked this earth in perfect harmony with his Heavenly Father.  He hung on the cross human for human.  Join us. Ezekiel was a man that listened to God tell him about the “river” and a hope for the future. A man that God took further, beyond the exile, to the return, and the exacting nature of his glory and how he would dwell again with his people. A man that heard God describe his glory. And who showed him what it looked like. A man that heard God prophecy this: “The Lord is there.” A man living through his prophetic life with such spiritual endurance that it makes me feel closer to God. With all my senses.I mean. That is my spirit-crush.It comes in two parts. The first part is Ezekiel, the watchman. The witness. And the second part is what Ezekiel saw, what he experienced of the glory of God. Ezekiel 3:16-2116 At the end of seven days the word of the Lord came to me: 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. Today we look at how God calls Ezekiel, and how God defines being a witness in the life of Ezekiel. (gather God’s morning manna)Here’s the gist, human. We crave a blank slate. Starting again. I can picture the excitement of the Israelites packing for the exodus. Everyone loves a blank slate. But when the post Red Sea reality settles in, we begin to romanticize the past. The free fish, the cucumbers, the lemons, the garlic.We crave that which we no longer have now that we see it in the rearview mirror. Numbers 11:4-64 The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”Sometimes God leads our exodus to a future we didn’t plan for. A future we didn’t want. Sometimes we just need to jumpstart some joy. The kind of elation and inspiration that only comes from our Creator. We need God to pump us up. And he can. So if you are feeling, depressed, discouraged, distraught, disengaged, and maybe just plain low, join us for a little joy boost.  I had other insights in mind for today, powerful verses, scenes I just travelled in my Bible trek, I just finished living through 39 kings endnote ruling Queen in the divided kingdom… but God handed me a mighty mandate.  To talk about the power of his Joy today. And remember, human, that his Word is God-breathed. When you hear his Word picture God filling your spirit with a crazy, enduring energy, an eternal assurance that your life, your purpose, well, his purpose for you, is worthy in the name of his Son. An affirmation deep within your heart that defies all the crusty defeats your earthly life is throwing at you.  1 Peter 1:8-9 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Today, joy boost 1, 2, and 3. Take it in and pass it along to someone who needs it BAD right now. This is Faith to Witness 99, motivating us to hear God and share the Shepherd. Season 3 Episode 191 Live a Life that Honors God’s Covenant (we need the wilderness) Here’s the gist, human. What happened in the wilderness for forty years with Moses and the chosen nation, seems like a long time ago. Time has changed things. Culture has moved on. Jesus came to save us, we can leave the wilderness behind.  No thank you. I need that wilderness. I need to know deeply, I need to embrace how God made his covenant with his chosen nation. Because Jesus fulfilled the covenant of his Heavenly Father. I need to live a life that honors God’s covenant. From the beginning to the end. I am traversing through God’s story right now, and realized I must stop and share words you may not have heard, the words of Moses. Not at the burning bush, not at the Red Sea, not when he struck the rock (although that is super important). No, words he spoke when he and the nation he was leading is on the threshold of the Promised Land. His words, his pouring into these people, his appealing to them to take God into their hearts, that God is near, his words to shepherd one generation out, and new generations in, as they are about to cross the Jordan. With dry feet.  Deuteronomy 30:11-14 11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. 12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 14 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it. God “hovered” over the dark surface of the deep. Genesis 1:1-21 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.The Spirit of God moved first. He hovered. A bird metaphor—like an eagle over her nest.Volumes have been written to interpret the beginning of creation. It is a truly joyous moment that we cannot possibly comprehend. We weren’t there. We have never seen such a thing as God creating our world to live in. Six days of creating that brings us our world and humanity. We know this. It started with God, hovering.So I can’t help but think about how God hovers over each of us, in any given moment. Hovering, his full attention on the right time to bring what? The light. His light. No less so than when he made that first move to breathe life into our creation. It leads me to this question: How long does the Spirit of God hover over the lost sheep until I, or you, follow the bleating and find this little, lost woolly creature? Because the Spirit of God is ready and waiting to bring this creature to new life with the 99. Join us to consider the power of surrendering to a God who patiently, expectantly, waits to bring the light, the truth, to our moments, our days, our path, our witness, our life. Right out of the scripture gate. Here’s the gist, human. Receiving God’s provisions is an ongoing challenge. For instance, right now. I am revving up for my annual Bible trek, Genesis through Revelation. So how is God preparing my heart this year? By putting me right in the middle of Joseph’s Egyptian journey. A “grain beyond measure” kind of motivation. When “God’s provisions eliminate scarcity” storyline.  How does this prepare my heart? It’s easy. God’s provision for where I land on page 1140, the last page of Revelation, will be beyond measure. God’s provision will be beyond my wanting. Like the seven years of abundance Joseph stewarded in Egypt.  So I must steward my 40+ pages well. Each day. Because this journey, and whatever journey you are currently on, will always evolve into a different need, into a deficiency that needs addressed, a relationship that is starving, a condition that is headed toward fatal.  A famine that needs spiritual food. Here’s the gist, human. I hunt for the power of God in my life. I follow Sirga (Sierga), the 400 lb lioness living in the African bush. Just me and a million+ other humans. I do it because I am in pursuit of knowing God more deeply. I think God’s animal kingdom holds deep truth about his nature. Sirga gets my attention. Her presence is uncompromising. She brings the all of her in every moment. As an apex predator in her habitat, she is sovereign. God created her to be so. I am forever seeking to tighten my spiritual grip on the “omni” of my God. The totality of his everything. His all. His sovereign nature. Why? Because we live so far below it. We fall so far short of it. We try, but God is just so “everything.” Sirgi gives me a deeper sense of God’s power and his presence when multiplied by eternity. From creature to Creator.Join us.
