Most of the time, however, the anxiety is a manifestation of shame we carry around being ourselves – sensitivity and all.
We fear being different, judged, not liked, and ultimately not safe for simply being ourselves.
Shame shows up when we perceive our sense of safety, belonging, contentment, and/or joy to be in jeopardy.
What bigger perceived threat to all of that than being around a bunch of people in a different setting?!

We desire social connections and for many, devices are our main, or even sole source of connections, which isn’t a bad thing, however, we must moderate the use for our overall health and well-being.

- Or we’ll begin with some changes and new habits, but then give up too easily on ourselves when we fail to stay consistent

It’s still the darkest, slowest time in Nature right now, and you ARE Nature. Feel, honor, and align with what’s true for you, in your body. There are new starts, and endings and beginnings all around and within us on a daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and yearly basis.

For sensitive, deep-feeling folks, building resilience by focusing on cultivating a flexible nervous system is key. It’s virtually impossible to go from a hyper-aroused state, feeling overwhelmed and anxious to being completely still, yet many of us are trying to do just that…
Stillness can be a wonderful goal, however, when trying to go from 100 to 0 with the flip of a switch doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t mean you’re “not doing something right.” It means you’re a sensitive person who’s maybe on overdrive and needs a different tactic.
Let the journey from anxiety to stillness be a rhythmic dance, and not an all-or-nothing thing. Allow for a sense of deceleration, rather than seeking to come to a screeching a halt. As I am always inviting us to do, look to nature’s rhythms for guidance. We don’t go from summer to winter – autumn is in the middle, the deceleration. Going from hyper-aroused to stillness requires your own autumn. Listen in for the hows and whys of this process.

The Solstices, which occur twice each year, are times of immense power and opportunity as the sun shifts into its time of waxing or waning. These are times of transitioning into opposite energies – either of hope, renewal, growth, and relief, or of deceleration, farewells, decay, and resting.
The sun is our life-giving force here on Earth. It’s stable, fixed, predictable, relatively unchanging, and represents The Triangle Principle. At the solstices, we take time to truly honor the sun’s presence in our life – within and around us, metaphorically and literally.
On InnerSpark’s Wheel of Frequencies, the Solstices are represented by The Void Archetype at winter and The Blacksmith Archetype at summer. This axis is one of polar opposites, yet truly two sides of the same coin that are interdependent.

Sensitive, deep-feeler: Is being burnt out robbing you of intimacy? Let’s talk about it.
When deep-feelers are living in a state of frozen shame, it may look something like some of the following:
✨Overthinking mostly everything, backwards and forwards, up and down, 10 steps ahead and behind
✨Being overly aware of others’ needs and going above and beyond to meet those while putting themselves in last place on their list of priorities
✨Viewing themselves as the problem in every situation because they’re the “weird” or “different” ones that must be inconveniencing everyone and everything else
✨Believing there’s something “wrong” with them that must be “fixed” if they’re ever to have a “normal” or “healthy” life
✨Choosing to go out of their way to stay quiet, small, hidden, and unseen and not ruffle feathers by using their voice, setting their boundaries, or stating their needs
These are just some ways… Can you relate to any of these?
All of this compounds with time and distracts and exhausts many deep-feelers (who don’t have a system in place to nurture their gift). In this shame-filled state of compounding distraction and exhaustion, plus an overly taxed nervous system, intimacy goes out the window in every sense…
Whether with close friends or family, or with a beloved, a deep desire to hide + an exhausted body that’s not interested in slowing down to receive pleasure = no intimacy of any kind in a meaningful, sustainable, enriching way.

Something I wish I would’ve known and embraced more fully back then…
The power of awareness cannot be overstated.
Your awareness serves as the container for your entire experience, and it has the power to create sustainable, lasting change.
Many of us are challenged by harnessing our awareness and sticking with things – especially challenging and uncomfortable things.
For many, when in that constant state of burnout, awareness is hijacked by the patterns, beliefs, and habits that keep you burnt out:
😩 constantly trying to avoid mistakes or ruffling feathers or being seen
😣 constantly on the lookout for the next threat
😑 constantly trying to “fix” or “heal” yourself
😱 constantly looking away from yourself, rather than inside yourself
Something I wish I would’ve known back in the day was that deep, lasting change at the core level doesn’t happen by dipping your toes in the
water a time or two…
It comes from radical self-honesty, courage, willingness, CONSISTENCY.
There has to be a willingness to call your own bullshit (and even better if there’s a willingness to have a trusted, unbiased outsider to support
you in calling your own bullshit).
This takes courage! All we have to do is continually show up consistently and with an open heart.
In The InnerSpark Method, we work with the mind and come into a whole new relationship with it as the container for our experience and the way to create sustainable, lasting change.
We work to befriend our mind and come into a collaborative, harmonious relationship with it. Through deep, honest self-inquiry, we come to see blind spots, contradictions, and areas for change.

Are you in the practice of trusting your intuition even when logic demands another action?

Your sense of what’s “logical” may actually be some kind of shame-fueled old belief. What does this mean? This means that along the way, you’ve internalized others’ values, logic, standards, guidelines and have come to falsely believe they are your own, too, that they are what’s in your best interest.
