EP # 60: Beyond Resilient: Surviving a Stray Bullet and Bringing Calisthenics to Philly with Evan "OG" Harden
In this week's episode, we meet Evan "OG" Harden, founder of the National Bar League, a Calisthenics Sports League—a rigorous form of exercise using bodyweight for resistance through movements like pulling, pushing, bending, jumping, and swinging.
At just 16, Evan faced a near-death encounter on the streets of West Philly—a stray bullet almost claimed his life. This harrowing experience granted him a unique perspective well beyond his years.
Years later, while seeking a change from his monotonous workout routine, OG stumbled upon a captivating video showcasing acrobatic calisthenics. This discovery ignited his passion for becoming a bar athlete and eventually led to the inception of Philly's first-ever Bar League.
By spearheading the creation of Philly's inaugural Bar Park at Smith Playground, OG has made calisthenics easily accessible to everyone in the community. Join us as we delve into his inspiring journey of survival, growth, and fitness transformation.
In this week's episode we discuss:
