Names of God (El Gibbor) Part 13
1h 14m | Aug 4, 2026El Gibbor: The Mighty God Who Fights for You
In this sermon, Ps. Ryan explains El Gibbor (“El” = God, “Gibbor” = mighty) from Isaiah 9:6, noting it is the only biblical occurrence of “El Gibbor” and a prophecy of Jesus Christ.
The message contrasts God as “Almighty” (His intrinsic nature) with “Mighty God” as His relational intervention—God stepping into human battles and fighting instead of us.
It emphasizes surrender and grace: God helps those who cannot help themselves, not those who “help themselves,” and “being still” (Exodus 14:14) is reassigning the battle to God while continuing faithful obedience. Using illustrations from Adam’s fall, Nimrod, Esau, Jacob, and Joseph, it highlights how human self-reliance corrupts grace, and calls believers to trust El Gibbor, testify to God’s glory, and worship in advance like Hezekiah and Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:12).
