The Energy of Sacred Sites

With a trip to Peru on the near horizon, Sam turns to the question of what it actually means to visit a sacred site, and why these pilgrimages, whether to the red rocks of Sedona, the old stones of Israel, or the high altitudes of the Andes, have a way of rearranging something inside us that no ordinary travel can touch.
In this personal and unhurried episode, Sam draws on his own experiences at three places that have each left their mark on him in different ways. Sedona, with its vortexes and its quiet insistence that you slow down and listen. Israel, with the weight of millennia of prayer and longing pressed into every stone, where the sacred and the human sit so close together you can feel the hum of both at once. And Peru, calling him back now, where the land itself seems to remember something older than any of us. He reflects on how each of these places asked something different of him, revealed something different, and sent him home changed in ways that took months and sometimes years to understand. The common thread is not the geography. It is the willingness to arrive as a pilgrim rather than a tourist, to let the land do its work on you.
Together with his listeners, Sam explores what makes a place sacred in the first place, and whether the energy is already there waiting for us or something that generations of devotion have slowly built into the ground. He looks at how the body often knows before the mind catches up, the strange way certain sites humble us without warning, and the practice of returning home and letting the experience actually integrate rather than filing it away as a good trip.
