Have you ever done everything you thought God wanted you to do—only to watch your life fall completely apart?

For Michael Jerome, that moment came while he was deeply involved in church ministry. He was serving, leading, studying the Bible, helping others, and showing up every week. But behind the scenes, his marriage was quietly falling apart.

In this deeply personal episode of The Biblical Film Room, Michael takes you inside the “film room” of his own life to explain why this podcast exists and how one of the most painful seasons of his life ultimately transformed the way he understands faith, identity, relationships, healing, and biblical counseling.

From the outside, Michael appeared committed, successful, and active in ministry. But at home, he was struggling with insecurity, unhealthy conflict, control, pornography, fear, and a marriage he didn’t know how to navigate. Ministry had become part of his identity, while the deeper issues in his life remained unresolved.

When his marriage eventually ended, Michael entered a major faith crisis. After decades of Christianity, he found himself questioning what he believed, who he could trust, and why years of serving God had not produced lasting transformation in his personal life.

Then came six months that changed everything.

Living alone in a small apartment with little money, no television, no internet, and limited support, Michael found himself with three constants: his Bible, solitude, and a chess set he used while spending time with his son. That season forced him to confront his pain, his identity, and his relationship with God in a completely different way.

He began to realize a truth that would reshape his life:

Your worth and value do not come from what you do. They come from who you are as your Creator defines you.

Michael discovered that being with God is infinitely more important than simply doing things for God. Christian activity, ministry involvement, and biblical knowledge can look impressive from the outside while deeper emotional and spiritual transformation remains unfinished.

That journey eventually led Michael toward recovery, mind renewal, biblical counseling, and the creation of A Space of Grace Counseling. His desire was simple: to become the kind of person he needed when his own life and marriage were falling apart—and to create a place where people could tell their stories with dignity, honesty, grace, and respect.

It also became the foundation for The Biblical Film Room.

Just as athletes review film to identify mistakes, patterns, and opportunities to improve, we all replay the “film” of our lives. We revisit conversations, failed relationships, family wounds, church hurt, anxiety, anger, loneliness, shame, and the moments we wish had gone differently.

But the question is not whether we review the film.

The question is: what lens are we using?

In The Biblical Film Room, Michael explores marriage, relationships, family, suffering, shame, dating, church hurt, culture, spiritual growth, and emotional healing—then compares what we see against the truth of Scripture.

If you’ve experienced church hurt, marriage struggles, religious trauma, a faith crisis, shame, relationship pain, spiritual confusion, or difficulty understanding your identity in Christ, this conversation is an invitation to examine your story honestly without allowing your failures to define you.

Healing doesn’t begin by ignoring the tape.

Healing begins when we’re willing to watch it honestly.
