  • Season 1 - Episode 17 - Urinary Tract Infections

In this episode the docs discuss an alternative approach to the treatment of Urinary Tract Infections (UTI's). The most common treatment for UTI's is antibiotics, and while there may be times when it becomes necessary to use antibiotics, there are also a lot of negative effects that can happen as a result of overuse of antibiotics.

We think there is a better way to approach UTI's from a natural stand point in order to get the body functioning better and help the immune system fight off infection on its own. After all, the body was meant to fight off bacteria and viruses every single day. So the question becomes, why isn't the body fighting off a UTI on it's own?

Chiropractors are doctors of cause. By getting to the root cause of the symptom and correcting the problem, the body can then return to its natural state of health and homeostasis.

  • Season 1 - Episode 16 - Human Performance in Sports

This groundbreaking study in 2015 revealed that Chiropractic adjustments are one of the most effective ways to improve sports performance!

In the study, researchers discovered that the maximum muscle contraction after spinal manipulation was increased by almost 60 percent. Furthermore, the force was increased as well, coming in at 16 percent higher than it was pre-treatment. This caused the researchers to conclude that chiropractic "appears to alter the net excitability of the low-threshold motor units, increase cortical drive, and prevent fatigue."

Are you performing at your best, or could you take your human performance to a whole new level? Here at Hackbart Chiropractic we want to help you live the best life possible!

GERD is becoming increasingly common in today's world. As of 2014, 15% - 30% of the U.S. population has GERD and this number is trending upwards over the last 20 years! From 1998 to 2005 there was an increase in hospitalizations from GERD growing from 995,402 up to 3.14 million hospitalizations in 2005. Imagine what those numbers are like today!

(National institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases)

In today's episode the docs talk about a new approach to GERD and how we can look at this condition a little bit differently in an effort to find the root cause of this condition. Chiropractors are doctors of cause! In order to prevent these statistics from increasing every year you have to address the root cause, instead of treating effects.

There are many lifestyle factors that contribute to GERD but this underlying issue may surprise you and it could be the root cause of your heartburn after all these years!

  • Season 1 - Episode 12 - Allergies (Part 2)

Antihistamines can cause many short-term effects such as urinary retention, constipation, dry mouth, increased appetite, and more serious long-term effects. One study showed a 3.5-fold increase in the risk of gliomas, a common type of brain tumor in patients with long-term antihistamine use for allergic conditions.

Decongestants produce vascular effects like an increase in blood pressure, headache, sleeplessness and irritability. Long-term side effects are unknown.

Corticosteroids can cause thinning of skin and mucous membranes, discoloration of the skin, and irritation. Used topically they favor absorption into the systemic circulation which can cause disturbance of the normal hormonal levels in the body. Corticosteroid eye drops can cause glaucoma, cataract formation and infection. Inhalers can cause irritation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, as well as yeast infections of the mouth.

Oral corticosteroids cause still more severe side effects over the long term such as:

    • stomach ulceration
    • cataract formation (opacity of the eye lenses)
    • osteoporosis (reduced mineral content of bones resulting in weaker fracture-prone bones)
    • muscle weakness
    • hyperglycemia (abnormally high blood sugar levels)
    • Delayed growth when used in children
    • Increased blood pressure

Our goal is to give people freedom from allergies through the power of natural healing. It is possible! In this episode the docs share some insight on the supplements and home remedies that they have seen be effective for their patients suffering from allergies. Drug dependence and dealing with the "side effects" is no way to live. We think there's a BETTER WAY!

  • Season 1 - Episode 11 - Allergies (Part 1)

By 2013 allergy costs borne by the family totaled $20.5 billion annually, including lost labor productivity, out-of-pocket, and opportunity costs. This was just the effect of children suffering from allergies (JAMA Pediatrics). Imagine the totals for children and adults suffering from allergies! But the real question is, are all these allergy treatments getting to the ROOT CAUSE? In this episode the docs talk about their experiences helping people get freedom from allergy medications and how crucial it is to be specific with chiropractic care. They also discuss how chiropractic works with the body to improve the function of the body's immune system to allow the proper handling of things like air pollutants, toxins, and irritants that we are exposed to on a daily basis. • Season 1 - Episode 10 - Acute Low Back Pain (Case Management)

In this episode the docs discuss the case management of a patient with acute low back pain. These types of patients will typically have trouble walking and cannot function because of the pain they are experiencing. The Gonstead system allows our doctors to get results with these patients because of the precision in finding the misaligned vertebra that is causing the disc to herniate, and restoring its positioning without a lot of force. These cases can take time but with the right tools and an understanding of the condition, these patients can experience great relief without the need for drugs or surgery!

There are a lot of important things for the patients to understand as they try to manage the pain at home between treatments. The docs go over some helpful tips and tricks for managing the pain the natural way.

  • Season 1 - Episode 9 - Bedwetting ( Causes and Case Management)

Bedwetting is becoming more and more common among young children but is it normal? This problem is usually a hidden one due to the fact the parents and their children aren't going to advertise the problem to others or draw attention to it because of the embarrassment it may cause to the child. Here are some statistics on the age groups and how common bedwetting is among each group:

    • 30% of 3-year-olds
    • 40% of 4-year-olds
    • 20% of 5-year-olds
    • 12% of 6-year-olds
    • 5% of 10-year-olds
    • 3% of 12-year-olds -Howard J. Bennett, MD

Although the statistics show that as children age they are less likely to struggle with bedwetting, it does not show why they had the problem in the first place. If the root cause is never addressed, the child may "grow out of the bedwetting" but they usually grow into other bladder or bowel problems later in life. In this episode we share our experiences with some of the toughest bedwetting cases we've seen and share the life changing results that these children experienced when they found relief from their bedwetting for the very FIRST time! What if your child finally got relief from their bedwetting problems? What impact would it have on their lives, and yours?

For every effect, there is a cause! ChiropracTORS are doctors of cause.

  • Season 1 - Episode 8 - The Leading Cause of Disability in the U.S.

Statistics show that 80% of Americans will experience debilitating back pain at some point in their lives. This is a problem that Americans have spent $150.4 billion per year on treatment alone, not to mention the cost of lost labor, absenteeism, and decreased productivity to companies. In 2011 there was $131.8 billion in annual earnings lost for persons with back/neck conditions.

This is a HUGE problem, but the cause is a SMALL thing. Today the docs discuss some of the small and yet costly things that can jumpstart debilitating back pain and how you can avoid becoming one of the statistics.

Multiple steroid shots in the shoulder over the years gave him minimal relief that was temporary at best. His latest visit to the office changed his life! For the first time in 9 years, he can use his arm and work at full capacity with NO PAIN!

Shoulder injuries are very complex due to the nature of the shoulder complex and all that is involved in keeping the shoulder stable from a musculoskeletal and neuromuscular standpoint. The docs explain the different causes of shoulder pain that may be causing your disfunction.

  • Season 1 - Episode 2 - Vitalistic vs Mechanistic

In this episode we dive into the difference between the two main views in modern health care which are Vitalistic and Mechanistic. These two views look at similar problems people face from a drastically different point of view. As you can imagine the treatment prescribed is much different and so are the results! A Vitalistic view of the body sees the body as an intelligent organism with an inborn ability to heal and self regulate in response to its environment. A Mechanistic view of the body sees the body as a sum of parts that is unintelligent and passively responds to its environment. The human body is endlessly complex and our knowledge of what it's capable of continues to expand. This is what makes our job so much fun! There's a saying in Chiropractic that says, "The power that made the body heals the body". We get to help facilitate that power through SPECIFIC Chiropractic care!
