Laurence Beaudoin Morin is a performance artist based in Montreal (Canada). After completing a Master’s degree in Visual and Media Arts at Université du Québec à Montréal (2019) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia University (2015), Laurence Beaudoin Morin has been presenting performances and organizing gatherings in Montreal, Sudbury, Toronto, Detroit, Brussels and Berlin since 2012. Among other things, she is the initiator of the self-workshops project for performance in the open space and works jointly with Performance Art Studies on online performance courses. Laurence develops a reflection on the practice of gathering by celebrating the complexity of her praxis. Focused on collective work, her approach aims to initiate and document circumstances conducive to encounters and the sharing of knowledge. As a symbol of insubordination and plenitude, the wasteland is for her a central artistic tool, where bodies can determine the relational landscape.
In Interruption conséquente au sens de la recherche (Consequent Interruption in the Meaning of Research), three installations are arranged as reference points in the course of the performance. Each will be modified with a performative action, but will remain an autonomous object in the absence of the artist. Her hours of presence are inscribed on a panel at each station. However, these appointments will not take into account unpredictable factors that will cause delays, such as traffic on the evening of the event, spontaneous interactions with the audience, physical exhaustion, detours or accidents. In an attempt to rebalance the punctuality of her engagements, the artist has planned to make up for these delays by shortening the reading of her allocution.
