MORE ABOUT No StringsNo Strings was started by disabled actor, Helen Flinter Leach, in 1994, on the strong belief in the transformative power of paid meaningful work in the arts. No Strings is a creative environment where disabled performers are positioned as authors, collaborators, and decision-makers. Artistic Director, Paulo Castro, says “Disability is no excuse for poor quality” and we live by that motto! Our work is artistically excellent and socially transformative. We support disabled performers to build professional pathways, recognising disability as a creative identity not a limitation.https://nostrings.org.au/listing/ark/ ARK SUMMARY ARK is a powerful new theatre work from acclaimed South Australian playwright JW Smith (The Construct), directed by Paulo Castro. This gripping production takes audiences deep inside the fractured mind of a high-flying executive pushed to breaking point by the relentless daily grind of modern life. As pressure mounts and reality begins to blur, he finds himself on the edge, ready to walk away from everything he’s built.Drawn into the gritty underworld of a stranger on the docks, ARK unfolds as a raw and compelling exploration of identity, control, and what happens when the structures we rely on begin to collapse.Bold, immersive and thought-provoking, ARK is a striking new work that challenges perception and reveals the human cost of living on the edge. Directed by Brooke DuBois. And there's bears.Oslo Rogers has a very fun mum called Ruthy, and lives in a very fun town called Mellingong. But now a very unfun problem (called a big approaching storm) is forcing everyone to head for The Clondike, the big town hall on the hill. And they can only take a few important things each: ‘love luggage’, Ruthy calls it. And she’s a milk-lady, and owns a milk-float, and those can hold lots of love luggage… if you pack them right. It is also a comedy about politics, identity and the failings of the ruling class told with witty sarcasm and much passive aggression between a long-married couple of differing political views.A prim Tory MP (Robin Hesketh) and his liberal, bohemian wife (Diana) quarrel and exchange witty barbs in their Cotswold cottage. The year is 1988 and Robin has arrived home from Westminster after voting for an important piece of legislation in Maggie Thatcher’s government. The subject of the new law and his role in helping it pass is the source of conflict and shared anguish and is integral to the deeply emotional and heart-rending reveal at the end.The title, ‘Hansard’ refers to the transcripts of parliamentary debates in Britain and Commonwealth countries, including Australia. This play presents us with another verbatim record of a more personal and compelling debate. NEW EPISODE: THE WATSONSThe WatsonsWritten by Laura WadeDirected by Matthew ChapmanThe University of Adelaide Theatre GuildSEASON: 1st - 10th August 2025📍The Little Theatre This episode of For the Love of Theatre Podcast is hosted by Annabel Whitford, featuring interviews with Director, Matthew Chapman, and cast members Lindy Lecornu (Lady Osborne), Genevieve Hudson (Miss Osborne) & Imogen Deller-Evans (Emma Watson), all from the upcoming production of The Watsons, written by Laura Wade, produced by The University of Adelaide Theatre Guild. SUMMARYThe Watsons are in crisis. Cut off financially from her benefactor, the youngest, Emma, returns to her dying father and spinster sisters with the task of finding a husband - and finding one now. Matchmakers, match breakers, cads, stuffy clergymen and an overactive rumour mill all conspire as wedding bells ring in the distance and Emma eyes off a certain man…and that’s where we leave it.See, Jane Austen never finished the story. So it’s up to Emma, with the help of modern-day Laura, a jaded playwright with a rapidly approaching deadline, to find her own happy ending…And that’s where the fun really begins.Laura Wade’s witty, bold adaptation of Jane Austen’s unfinished novel is a playful, provocative exploration of choice, control, and who really gets to write the ending. The direction was to enhance and complement the plot and emotions on display and create a sound design for each love story. With piano, acoustic guitar and strings, Toby and April have created musical motifs and themes which unite all the scenes but give each vignette its own musical 'stamp'.April Strevens, Production Manager and composer. April has been involved in music, theatre, film and the fine arts for many years.April says: "utilising music as a uniting tie between the various storylines of Almost, Maine was an important element to balance in composing the score. SUMMARYA sensation in London and New York, this is one of the funniest and most inventive plays by Britain's grand master of comedy.A hilarious satire of television and a touching romantic comedy, it begins in a television studio where a hospital soap opera is being taped. One actor starts speaking gibberish; he is an "actoid" a robot and his programming is off kilter.Adam, the young nephew of the producer and an aspiring writer who worships the director (once a great movie director and now a broken down has been), is on the set. Adam starts chatting with Jacie Tripplethree, the actoid (serial number JC333) playing the nurse and finds, to his surprise, that not only can she carry a conversation but, due to what she calls a fault in her programming, she has a creative imagination. Adam wants to build a new television series around her but the studio will not hear of it. He also finds he is falling in love with the charming robot! Will Adam get the green light on his series? Will love prevail? Jacie is one of Ayckbourn's greatest characters; her portrayer won all of London's major acting awards. THE GLASS MENAGERIEWritten by TENNESSEE WILLIAMSDirected by Clinton NitschkeThe University of Adelaide Theatre Guild Student Society Featuring interviews with CAST MEMBERS, Jessica Merrick (Amanda Wingfield), Connor Duncan (Tom Wingfield), Mia Livingston-Pearce (Laura Wingfield), Liam Warmeant (Jim O’Connor) and DIRECTOR, Clinton Nitschke, with SPECIAL GUEST HOST Laura McLeod (Stage Manager).
An Amateur Production By Arrangement with ORiGiNTM Theatrical, on behalf of Samuel French Ltd.

– A Concord Theatricals Company.
'So what are we going to do now, honey, the rest of our lives? Just sit down in this house and watch the parades go by? Amuse ourselves with the glass menagerie, darling? Eternally play those worn-out records your father left us as a painful reminder of him?'A drama of great tenderness, charm and beauty, The Glass Menagerie is one of the most famous plays of the modern theatre.Amanda Wingfield is a faded, tragic remnant of Southern gentility who lives in poverty in a dingy St. Louis apartment with her son, Tom, and her daughter, Laura. Amanda strives to give meaning and direction to her life and the lives of her children, though her methods are ineffective and irritating. Tom is driven nearly to distraction by his mother's nagging and seeks escape in alcohol and the world of the movies. Laura also lives in her illusions. She is crippled, and this defect, intensified by her mother's anxiety to see her married, has driven her more and more into herself. When a gentleman caller arrives for dinner, the Wingfield family is flooded with hope. However, it is uncertain if this visitor will change things for the better. CASTJessica MerrickConnor Duncan,Mia Livingston-PearceLiam Warmeant.
