Catholic Altars, Witch Altars & the Sacred Space Between | Divine Mysticism Podcast Ep. 8

1h 4m | Aug 19, 2026

What exactly is an altar? Is it simply a place to pray—or can it become a physical connection between the spiritual and physical worlds?

In Episode 8 of the Divine Mysticism Podcast, Tasha (Catholic) and Renée (mystic) dive into the meaning, history and symbolism of altars across Catholicism, mysticism and other spiritual traditions.

They talk about Catholic church altars, home altars, sacred objects, prayer, offerings, the four elements, traveling altars, and why creating a physical sacred space can help us connect with something beyond ourselves.

And because this is Divine Mysticism, they obviously get distracted a few times along the way.

From a mysterious spirit named George and a missing bowling ball to the Ark of the Covenant, Indiana Jones, the Egyptian Ankh, the Third Temple, fertility, sacred union and why Tasha apparently has an altar for everything...somehow, it all keeps coming back to the altar.

And as always, we're not claiming to have all the answers.

We're just two friends going down the rabbit hole.
