• Episode 27: Open Book by Jesica Simpson

Today we’re talking about June’s book club pick, Open Book by Jessica Simpson.  Melissa and Whitney weren’t fans back in the early 2000s, but this book gave them a new found respect for her. It is a great summer read, love, betrayal, family drama, emotional affairs and glitter cups. Whitney might go down the Botox road (for migraines, not vanity) and Melissa has some exciting developments in her business.  They also chat about the current status of masks in this country, and boy oh boy is that a cluster f*ck.

  • Episode 26 You're Not Better Because You're Skinny

This week we’re bringing an episode that we didn't get to air in late May. We’re talking about diet culture and how that has shaped us as ladies in our mid-30’s.  We grew up in the 90’s, fat was the devil guys!!!  Whitney talks about how she talks to her kids about food, and physical appearance at their young ages.Melissa talks about her experience with Keto and fasting and its effect on her mental health. We go down a rabbit hole about Jenny Craig’s origin (we just had to know). We talk about fat shaming, Instagram’s shitty algorithm to body shame you, society’s obsessions with judging people’s body’s, office weight loss challenges and society valuing people more if they are skinny.

  • Episode 25 Racism and Imposters

Hi Everyone. We’re back with an episode we recorded on June 2, just a few days after the murder of George Floyd and 3 days in to the national protests. We talk about protests, police, Black Lives Matter and our role in systemic racism. We also talk about imposter syndrome, we’re all over on this episode.  We know a lot has changed in the past 2 weeks since this episode was recorded but we wanted to release this as a way to continue the dialogue.

This week school is finally over and we’re not teachers anymore!!!!  Melissa has been going commando and Whitney is already over the outdoors. We play a lovely little game you might have heard of (F@$! Marry Kill) and address a very important question; is the marriage celibate? Whitney’s deep love of Conan O’Brian comes out and Melissa’s love for gingers is reaffirmed. Then we dive deep into this month’s book club pick If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlane. And of course, our tiny joys of the week.

  • Episode 23: Urban Dating & Urban Dictionary

Hello again friends. This week we’re talking about Bumble and the weird shit people do on dating apps. Melissa’s shares some interesting observations over the past week, they’re interesting. We’ve also decided your 30’s is a weird time vortex for aging and it doesn’t treat everyone equal.  Melissa also tests Whitney’s knowledge of Urban Dictionary slang, why are there so many terms for vagina? Are you a Whitney or Melissa according to Urban Dictionary?

  • Episode 22 The Silent Patient & Infidelity Is In Every Book Ever Written

Happy May!  This week we’re talking about April’s book club pick, The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. We both enjoyed this psychological thriller. Nothing distracts from a global pandemic like reading about a mysterious murder, a woman who doesn’t speak for 6 years after murdering her husband and a stalker who no one believes exists.  It was also the first work of fiction written by a man that Whitney has read in years, so that’s saying something. We also talk about boycotting masks, boycotting ladies and our tiny joys of the week.

  • Episode 21 Self Care, Chalking and Crying in Bathrubs

We’re back to finish off April (forever known as the shittiest month of 2020) with a little talk of self care. We talk about the 6 types of self care and how we’re trying our best to hit all 6 in these pandemic times.  Melissa finds success in therapy, journaling and chalking (listen to find out what that is). Whitney does sporadic yoga, runs out of her house away from her family, and cries in the bathtub. Whitney gets a little woo woo about mediation and Melissa makes an argument form an excellent burger being the best self care. Do what works for you.

This week we’re wrapping up week 3 from the inside. The inside of our houses that is. It’s officially the third week of our stay at home mandate and everyone is getting a little squirrely. So this week we’re bringing you all the ways we recommend filling your time. The best things to binge watch, to binge read and to binge listen (binge listening is a thing).  You only thought you reached the end of Netflix, don’t worry we’ve got lots of things to keep you occupied. We’ve had a lot of time on our hands and have a lot of thoughts this week. And a screaming baby might make a little cameo appearance, this is how you podcast during a pandemic.

This week we’re talking about our March book club pick, Miss You by Kate Eberlen. We both loved this book and couldn’t get enough of this story of two lives that leave us wanting to know where they are now. We both cried while reading this book, so that’s saying something. Hello everyone! This week's episode we’re joined by a special guest, Amanda of 30 seconds with Amanda fame. This week we’re talking about Love is Blind.  We both can’t get enough of Lauren and Cameron. We try to honestly figure out why so many of the women fell for Barnett, but we’re terrified Amber might kick our asses if we figure it out. Melissa has some interesting insight into Damien and Giannina and we definitely have some thoughts on Diamond and Carlton. And what can you say about Mark and Jessica that hasn’t already been said? Well we’ve got some things to say. We have so many thoughts on pod dating people. Not to mention Melissa is back with some serious Beefs of the Week, yay!!!

  • Episode 16 Unpopular Opinions and Calm the F@%k Down About The Beatles

This week we go down a rabbit hole of unpopular opinions. The internet is full of dumb things, and this week just proves this to be true. Is Friends great or the worst show ever? Are The Beatles the best band ever or a good band just like hundreds of others? Is Game of Thrones just adult Harry Potter with sex and dragons or a truly profound drama? Will metal straws save the planet or just make you feel superior? Is John Krasinski hot (especially with that beard in A Quiet Place, growl)? Are pockets in dresses great or overrated? Pineapple on pizza, delicious or disgusting? We know you are dying to know how we feel about these pressing topics and all the other shit that the internet talks about? This week we’re back from a week off due to complete and total bonkers and both of us needing a little break to take care of ourselves. We talk about January’s book club pick, Unlawful Justice by K.C. Lynn and K. Langston. Let’s just say we had some different opinions on the book. Netflix’s Cheer of course gets talked about, because it is the best; B-E-S-T (go team). Drag Queens, alpha males, how we get ourselves out of panic attacks, surviving not thriving and racism in romance novels round out the week. This week was quite the week.

  • Episode 11 Friendships and Stop Loving Joe from You

This week Mel and Whitney talk about the F word, friendship. How we picked our friends in our teens, 20’s and 30’s, do we end friendships or let them fizzle, what is important as you get older in a friendship and what makes them last over time and why do some friendships die out? Are apps a viable option for meeting friends? Whitney also has a science minute about the brain and social media, it’s a good one.

Melissa celebrated Michael’s birthday this past weekend and talks about being the only single lady going out and is now part of the celery water cult. We’re sending help. Whitney laments having to go back to work and no longer getting a paycheck for staying at home. Being an adult is so hard. We also talk about You and how it is bad to like a murder, even if he’s hot. • Episode 10 Enneagrams and Love Languages and Loud Mouthed Introverted Bitch Faces, Oh My!

This week we’re talking personalities, and we have some strong ones. We both took the Enneagram test and found our preferred Love Languages. One of us was a little surprised by the results (it was Melissa, OK) and someone else took the Enneagram three times (Type A Whitney, obviously) just to make sure it was consistent. It also turns out we have very different views on gift giving. One of us thrives and it’s a Love Language and the other has small panic attacks and is certain they are in the seventh circle of hell. We also lament over being loud-mouthed introverts who are always misunderstood.

Melissa also found a new obsession this week, it’s a head sling and she’s never looking back. When she becomes the next Oprah we’re all getting head slings.

  • Episode 8: The Importance of Being Wicked and Using Spooge Sponges

This week we recap our December book pick, The Importance of Being Wicked by Victoria Alexander. It’s secy England times book with a widow Boss Bitch of England times who is sex positive as our heroine, and banter galore. We thought it was also going to be a little Scooby Doo England times, but it was a little disappointing on that part.

We also touch on very important topics like spooge sponges (why do they exist and for who), The incest Folgers Christmas add of 2009…you know the one, Melissa’s home remedy for panic attacks (2 large coffees), the pardoning of child rapists in Kentucky and ass slapping female reporters on live television. And we, of course, finish the adventures of Average Joe Doesn’t Save Christmas. We had a lot of things to say this week, Happy Holidays.
