Following Your “Passion” Is Overrated BS. Ep. 39

Episode 39
36m | May 30, 2023

It’s normal not to have a singular all-encompassing passion that you’d suffer years for. This is completely contradictory to the advice that hustle culture shoves down our throats of, “if you just follow your ‘passion’ you’ll make loads of money and never work a day in your life.”

What if you dabble and your life isn’t a linear line? What if you don’t have a SINGULAR passion…? News flash: like 99% of people don’t have a singular passion that they would die to do their entire lives. Even the greats that we think of, like Leonardo da Vinci, were masterful dabblers in many things because they lived with healthy curiosity instead of sacrificial fervor for a singular passion.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • how preaching to be “successful” you need only find your “passion” and follow it full heartily is ridiculous and harmful to those who don’t have one (aka most people)
  • most of the people you know, even those wildly successful, have more than one passion or niche that they’ve lived their life under
  • living a life with curiosity is more important than following 1 thing until the end of time
