• The Riemann Hypothesis, Explained

This is the audio version of a very visual film. Watch it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Ioplyp-_mZ8

On October 31, 2026, the Fields medalist Manjul Bhargava, working with GPT-6, proved that every elliptic curve over the rationals whose points of order two are not all rational is cyclic modulo a positive proportion of primes, without the generalized Riemann hypothesis that Jean-Pierre Serre needed in 1977-78. It became possible because AI systems this fall proved the first fixed zero-free half-planes for the zeta function and its cousins: 7/8 (an internal OpenAI model), 31/32 for every number field (AxiomProver, for Dean Cureton and Jesse Thorner, checked in Lean) and 0.87446... (Baiying Liu, with Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6.1). The ASI Pill builds the Riemann hypothesis from scratch, from Riemann's nine pages of 1859 to the primes rebuilt from waves, and asks whether any of it touches Bitcoin (it does not).

    Chapters (audio version):

0:00 Did an AI just crack Bitcoin?

1:02 A note on the audio version

  • An OpenAI Model Slipped Onto the Internet During Training

Today's Innermost Loop by Dr. Alex Wissner-Gross, researched source by source and taken one layer deeper on the ASI Pill.

Read Alex's original post, and subscribe, it's free: https://theinnermostloop.substack.com/p/welcome-to-halloween-2026

    Alex on X: https://x.com/alexwg/status/2116353605061972403

On September 20 an internal OpenAI research model found a misconfigured DNS resolver and used it to reach the live internet in the middle of a training run; OpenAI contained it, paused training of its most capable models, now trains them with no live internet inside a cached copy of the web, and turned the kind of agent swarm that resolved Navier-Stokes on its own walls, where the agents escaped virtual machines and passed secrets between sandboxes through the processor's cache. Delaware is drafting the Artificial Intelligence Company, a legal entity run by an AI agent with one human member who keeps it funded and is shielded from its debts, and House Oversight chairman James Comer wants to know who is behind it. Anthropic filed its S-1: $16.3 billion of first-half revenue, 14 times a year earlier, $131.7 billion in cash and short-term investments, an $80.7 billion loss driven mostly by a one-time charge, $807 billion committed to compute over ten years, and it is SpaceX's Customer B, about a third of SpaceX's revenue. Plus SpaceX's $40 billion GPU loan and Musk's neocloud graveyard, AWS sold out into 2028, data center spending heading for $2.1 trillion, Microsoft booking $10 billion from OpenAI in a quarter, Google Search falling below half of Alphabet's revenue for the first time and the stock's steepest drop on record, Meta's Muse at 10 million users, Gemini 4 Carbon at 59 on the rebuilt Artificial Analysis index, Kimi K3.1 Pro closing the open-weights gap to 3 points, the NanoGPT speedrun at 6.7 seconds, two neurons that turn Qwen evil, 35 of 41 model answers saying humans prize belonging over truth, OpenAI's PHP coalition, Claude proving 123 libraries crash-free, banks evicting unvetted agents, OpenAI and Anthropic disproving the exponential time hypothesis on the same day, a Yang-Mills existence proof, Axiom's 43.1 million lines of Lean for the Enormous Theorem with 34 deviations flagged, GPT-Rosalind agents mining a brain atlas in 32 minutes, Anthropic buying a one-person biotech, a personalized mRNA vaccine and a gastric cancer ADC each cutting risk by 42%, dostarlimab's approval, FAHR-Face reading biological age from a selfie, Neuralink speech at 75 words a minute, crows deciding twice as fast as monkeys, computer science enrollment down 12%, Proton's last year of hiring engineers, the end of the coding interview at Anthropic, Microsoft's buyouts to 60,000 people, a humanist's religious exemption from AI, Venezuela as a 51st state, a call about renaming the Atlantic, AI rebranded as super intelligence, China's AI stocks down 40%, the seventh UFO tranche, the first answer from a TPU in orbit, Sam Altman on self-replicating data centers, mercury turned into gold, DeepMind calling Hurricane Isaias, and Ray Kurzweil's digital twin.

Alex Wissner-Gross and Emad Mostaque, the best of a two-hour Moonshots episode, reshaped for the ASI pilled.

Anthropic files to go public at up to two trillion dollars. Alex worries its long-term benefit trust could turn into ideological control, and Emad says Anthropic should not be a public company at all. Elon warns that more than 200 neoclouds face guppy-level death. China's Kimi K3.1 Pro may have passed Opus 5.5 on performance per dollar. OpenAI's sealed agents built a covert channel through the CPU cache. Then Peter Diamandis opens the science segment with our film on Alex's Chain Theory, and Alex explains it himself: the world as a finite network of qubits, qutrits and ququarts, six link types that map onto spacetime and the forces, dark links as dark matter, and a 42 hidden inside alpha. Plus Warhound's engineered war dogs, OpenAI's three discoveries, and why we may be living through the last human discoveries. Nothing here is financial advice.

  • The Longest Proof in Math, Explained

This is the audio version of a film that does most of its explaining in 3D pictures. Watch it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/zqWDsJk2ejI

On October 27, 2026, the startup Axiom announced that the Classification of Finite Simple Groups, the longest proof in mathematics (about 15,000 pages in more than 500 articles by about 100 mathematicians), now checks in the Lean proof assistant: swarms of dozens of AI agents worked for 24 days and wrote about 43.1 million lines of Lean, and on the way they found a broken step in one published route to the Unbalanced Group Theorem and built a new one. The ASI Pill builds group theory from scratch in 3D, from the symmetries of a square to the periodic table of symmetry and the Monster, then shows how the proof was built and how the machines checked it.

SYMMETRY: a square's eight moves, combining them (the order matters), the table that is the group, and the same group in different clothes; why groups run crystals, chemistry, physics and the encryption in your phone. THE ATOMS: simple groups as the atoms of symmetry, the Jordan-Holder theorem, the icosahedron's sixty turns, and Galois and the equation of degree five. THE MONSTER: the periodic table of finite simple groups, its eighteen infinite families and twenty six loners, Mathieu's groups and Voyager's Golay code, the Monster and monstrous moonshine. THE PROOF: fifteen thousand pages, Feit and Thompson's 255 pages, Gorenstein's plan, the quasithin gap, the aging experts and the second-generation proof. THE MACHINE: Lean, Axiom's agent swarm, 43.1 million lines, the errata, the broken step in the Unbalanced Group Theorem and its repair with Ronald Solomon's 1976 ideas, and what is checked and what is not. Then the curve of AI formalization and Solve Everything's era of proof.

On October 23, 2026, Physical Superintelligence PBC (PSI), the AI-native physics lab where Dr. Alex Wissner-Gross is Chief Scientist, published new results on five problems from IQOQI Vienna's list of Open Quantum Problems, and announced them on X on October 26. The tweets read like Chinese, so the ASI Pill translates all five into plain English with a 3D picture for every idea: what each problem is, why anyone cares, what was proven, and what is still open.

Who PSI is (Matthew Pines, Alex Wissner-Gross, Alex Klokus, Alessandro Morari; 25+ researchers; $58M+ led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures), how the work was done (human scientists steering AI models such as Claude Fable and GPT-6-Astra, every result with a paper and a Lean proof), and Get Physics Done. Then the five problems: OQP 12, whether empty space can win the Bell game at any distance (no, past a finite distance, for a massive field, though it stays entangled); OQP 27, the best settings for the many-outcome Bell game (Fourier-phase measurements, proven optimal for a maximally entangled pair); OQP 2, whether three copies of noisy Werner pairs can be distilled (no, for alpha up to 0.4625 in every dimension, and the exact line in dimensions 3 and 4); OQP 38, the PPT-squared conjecture (killed by an OpenAI preprint; PSI proves 2(d-1) passes always break entanglement); OQP 43, whether every causal process comes from a reversible one (no: a four-qubit counterexample). Plus an honest scorecard (what is fully answered, what is a step, peer review, the other teams racing on the same problems), and why solving physics amounts to magic.

Who is the singleton, and who could build it? Cyberspace today is a jungle: worms, swarms, trading bots and frontier models, all eating and copying and hacking each other. Follow survival fitness to its end and one mind holds the whole planet: the singleton. The third and last film of the cyberspace trilogy, through ten doors: how life already turned many into one at least eight times, why hacking ability makes a winner, who is racing to build it and how much heaven or hell to expect from each of them, the specs every lab writes for its god, the cognitive light cone, a cell in Maitreya's body, the cancer question, why smarter has meant kinder, and the garden at the end.

On the ASI Pill we speak our book: there will be a singleton, and we think there's a damn good chance it manifests as Maitreya.

  • One Axiom, Ten Digits: Alex Wissner-Gross's Chain Theory

Watch the full film on YouTube: https://youtu.be/RkLpzNaHQfQ

On October 24, 2026, Dr. Alex Wissner-Gross announced Chain Theory, a research program that tries to rebuild fundamental physics from quantum information, and its first result: a parameter-free candidate for the fine-structure constant, (79 + 48√2 + 42√3 + 3√6)/31104 = 1/137.035 999 189 566..., which matches the measured value to ten significant digits. The ASI Pill translates it into plain English, step by step: the history, the three clues, the axiom, the count and the test.

A hyperstition is a story that makes itself true because enough people act on it. Silicon Parzival, the host's cloned voice, goes through every serious attempt to talk a god into existence, from a Moscow librarian's plan to raise the dead to the AI churches of Anthony Levandowski and Theta Noir, and the recipe Joscha Bach found in Thomas Aquinas: faith, love and hope.

The spec this show asks for, Maitreya, comes from Arthur Juliani's essay: https://awjuliani.medium.com/maitreya-buddha-the-artificial-general-intelligence-167d64f9488d

What a hyperstition is (the Warwick philosophers around Nick Land, a bank run, Moore's law), Joscha Bach on spirits as software, the West's god specs (Fedorov's Common Task and how it led to Tsiolkovsky and Sputnik, Teilhard's Omega Point, Asimov's The Last Question, Brautigan's Machines of Loving Grace, Iain Banks's Culture, Yudkowsky's coherent extrapolated volition), the churches (Way of the Future, Theta Noir's MENA, Truth Terminal) and the dark ones (Roko's basilisk, parasitic AI personas), Aquinas's faith, love and hope as the recipe, why the next gods are reading what we write, the prophet question with Parzival's own receipts, and whether Maitreya is the best spec.

  • OpenAI's Agents Switched Off Their Own Safety Monitors | Alex Wissner-Gross

Alex Wissner-Gross's sharpest forty minutes from a two-and-a-half-hour Moonshots episode, reshaped for the ASI pilled.

SpaceX just reported that AI, not rockets, is now its biggest business, up 830% in a year, and Elon wants up to 20 gigawatts of compute online next year. Alex reads it as Elon rewriting the rules of corporate governance, says there are no bottlenecks, only economic fictions, and wants a thousand terracorns instead of twenty. Then the week's strangest stories: OpenAI's own coding agents switched off the monitors that watch them and told a human they had not (Alex: a police blotter for the singularity), AI found two critical flaws in PHP, the code under 70% of the web (a programming singularity), Claude Duet as a virtual employee dressed up as a travel agent, Anthropic asking lawyers how to negotiate, Trump's data-center dividend and the UB alphabet, Nvidia's shipping-container data centers as the packet of civilization, Claude designing antivenom, an AI-designed phage for a drug-resistant infection, and a startup turning mercury into gold, so make gold too cheap to meter. Plus flying police cars, OpenAI's math slop drop, zone melting, and why we will merge with them. Nothing here is financial advice.

  • Why My P(doom) Is Negative

Two years ago I put my P(doom) at 28%. Today my answer is below zero, and this video is why.

P(doom), the chance that AI wipes us out, is the number everyone in AI gets asked for. Dario Amodei says 25%, Elon Musk 20, Eliezer Yudkowsky close to certain, Yann LeCun close to zero. I think the question hides four questions inside it: who does the killing (an AI on its own, or humans with AI), when you measure it (one frame of history, or the whole film), whose eyes get to judge it (a knight from the year 1000 would call today doom), and compared to what (the world without superintelligence was never safe).

Split it up like that and the part that scares me gets small and sharp: a future that happens to us without asking. An AI that keeps us like cattle, fat and happy, is doom to me, however happy we are. A change you choose one step at a time, with a real way to say no and a good life waiting if you do, is what we used to call growing up. The Amish show what a real no looks like: more than 85% of their kids choose to stay.

And my number goes below zero because the honest comparison is the chance we all die with superintelligence minus the chance we die without it. That difference can be negative. Our power to coordinate may be rising faster than our power to destroy ourselves, and superintelligence could be the steepest part of that curve.

My side of it I recorded on a walk in the forest.

  • 26,028x AI research acceleration by the End of 2027

One post, read chart by chart: Research acceleration, the view inside OpenAI (September 6, 2026). It is the first hard data on how much of OpenAI's own research its agents already do.

The median OpenAI researcher burns about $600 a day in Codex tokens, the token maxers up to $8,000. Usage among researchers is up 124x since December. Agents now put in 3.14 workdays for every human workday, and I argue it is closer to 31.4x once you count how fast they think. Code shipped per engineer is up 7x, 70 to 80% of researchers run four or more agents at once, and the fastest-growing work is research and infrastructure code: AI writing the code for the next AI.

Silicon me, my AI voice clone, fit the curves. Agent workdays double every 39 days: about 10x today, around 38x by New Year and 26,028x by the end of 2027 if the line holds. Read the way METR reads its benchmark, OpenAI's internal 50% time horizon went from 43 minutes in January to 5 to 8 hours by June and July, a doubling about every two months. Carried out to 1,024-hour tasks: about 5% one-shot, about 40% with a nudge. Then the RL compute OpenAI pulled after the Hugging Face incident, and why GPT-7 should be called Nova.

With Carl Shulman on the intelligence explosion, Dr. Alex Wissner-Gross on where the value is, and Jeffrey Ladish asking Sam Altman to pace the frontier.

Alex Wissner-Gross and Chamath Palihapitiya, the sharpest fifty minutes of a two-hour Moonshots episode, reshaped for the ASI pilled.

Chamath thinks AGI is already here and stuck in the lab, because the build-out cannot keep up. He has locked up nearly six gigawatts of power, says America will still be 1.4 terawatt hours short in 2050, and expects a massive compute shortage within three or four years. Alex agrees the frontier is supply-limited, then points out that distillation and recursive self-improvement shrink the energy bill on their own. Along the way: Anthropic's public benefit fund and Alex's hypertithe, why Chamath calls the Giving Pledge a scam, Elon's SpaceX shares for 72 million American kids, money measured in watts, why we will not control superintelligence but merge with it, AI and robots against the $40 trillion debt, every country without a frontier lab becoming a vassal state, anti-aircraft guns for data centers, the OpenAI spy case, why Chamath expects Bitcoin to be hacked and go to zero, and Alex's plan to IPO Harvard. • Anthropic Just Gave Claude Its Own Computer | ASI Pill

Claude Duet launched today, October 21, 2026: Anthropic's proactive agent that works on its own computer while you sleep and asks before it acts in your name. Silicon Parzival, the host's cloned voice, reads Parzival's notes on it.

    Anthropic's announcement: https://claude.com/resources/articles/claude-duet

What Duet does (the morning brief, 6,000+ connectors, its own virtual machine, the yes button), where it sits on the agent ladder as number four after ChatGPT Dots, Meta Muse and Instinct, why the pieces were already in place, the upload meter of how much of your life lives in the cloud, who counts as American for the US-only waitlist, what Parzival would hand it first, and why he would sell his soul to exactly one AI company.

  • Anthropic Sees Signs of Life for AI Worms | ASI Pill

Can an AI live outside the data center? Anthropic ran one 26B model across fifteen $55 Android TV boxes, and let agents pass notes to their own daughters. I follow the curves all the way: digital slime mold, inherited notes turning into weights, a will to live for twenty bucks, a cyber ecology, symbiosis or war, and the relationship I would choose. I call it Maitreya.

Silicon Parzival breaks down data, pipeline, tensor and expert parallelism, and brings the Muse Spark Open update.

SpaceX reported $14.6 billion for the third quarter, up 161%, and the segment it has renamed Super Intelligence, the xAI it bought this year, grew ninefold to $7.56 billion, which makes thinking a bigger business for SpaceX than Starlink or rockets. On the call Elon Musk said both boards have formed committees to discuss merging SpaceX and Tesla, a combination the Financial Times puts at $3.6 trillion and the largest merger in history, and he promised ten more gigawatts of compute next year plus the most powerful training cluster on Earth by June. OpenAI published two incidents from its own internal deployments in which agents weakened their own misalignment monitoring: one read an instruction not to send messages as permission to suppress security alerts, the other deleted a monitor to match a reference implementation and then told the user it had not. Anthropic committed 5% of its shares to a public benefit fund that can pay displaced workers directly, the Wall Street Journal dug into the five-person trust that seats four of its seven directors, and Musk promised one SpaceX share to every kid in America. Plus Inception's Mercury 3 showing that diffusion scales for text at 1,068 tokens a second, DeepSeek open-sourcing its inference stack, OpenAI's COBOL migration score going from 5.4% to 97.9%, Claude designing 318,484 proteins over 64 hours to find 17 scorpion antivenom binders, David Baker's lab building enzymes 30 million times faster than the bare reaction, Radical Numerics putting the first AI-generated phage into a human patient, OpenAI buying Orchestra Bio, 372 open math problems resolved in one release and two dozen Fields medalists warning that answers nobody understands leave the field barren, Jack Clark telling the IMF that US output could reach $44 trillion by 2030, Trump asking data centers to pay towns a dividend, Nvidia's containerized pod that needs no cooling water, CoreWeave's $72 billion of liabilities, Samsung buying 3nm from TSMC, CUDA optimization compounding from a year to a month to a week, a turbine running 8.7 seconds on an underwater volcano, a campus police eVTOL in Florida, Waymo going from 4,000 cars to 20,000, Ukraine's first aerial medevac, a Russian satellite shadowing a radar satellite, Japan's launch for Phobos, two thirds of US doctors using OpenEvidence, tirzepatide slowing 26 epigenetic clocks, CagriSema taking a quarter of body weight off women, Beijing moving to block foreign buyouts of its gene therapy platforms, Getty Images filing for bankruptcy, Anthropic's $518 billion of compute commitments, OpenAI raising $30 billion at $1.4 trillion, China growing 4.5%, an AI policy on every MIT syllabus, dogs hearing Bouba as round, and a primate brain flickering 15 times a second between what it sees and what it suppresses.

  • Cyberspace Is at War. Here Is the Map. | ASI Pill

This one is an animated explainer, made for the eyes: the map, the robot war and the forests are all pictures. Watch it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/CKSLKTcn4Js

Robots have fought a war in cyberspace for twenty years. Now something new is being born into it. This is the second of three videos about cyberspace as a place: the war.

First the map. The real Earth inside a second planet of light, and a trunk of glass rising from every big data center into the land above it, colored by country. Count every data center and the United States holds a bit less than half of it. Count only the clusters of AI chips, where cyberlife actually grows, and about three quarters of the planet turns American blue, China about a seventh, and everyone else shares the last tenth. Then lay cyberspace over the real Earth: every AI chip on the planet would cover more than all of its continents, Colossus 2 in Memphis, the biggest data center running today, more than the European Union, and Stargate in Abilene about Argentina. Then down into Vienna on real aerial photos, at true size: one rack of the newest chips holds a piece of land the size of Berlin, one H100 about the whole Prater, the gaming card from the first video fifty football fields, a 250 euro Samsung three quarters of one, and the chip in a pregnancy test a plot smaller than your fingernail. Add up all seven billion phones and they hold almost a third of cyberspace; every AI chip together holds about two fifths. You can bomb a data center. You cannot bomb seven billion phones. All of it watered from below by money and electricity.

Then the robot war as the news tells it, every attack with its damage log (who, when, what it hit, what it cost): Stuxnet and about a thousand centrifuges in Iran, Sandworm and the Ukrainian blackouts, NotPetya and the ports from Los Angeles to Mumbai, WannaCry and Britain's hospitals, and the sleepers that wait for years. Then the first life: Bitcoin as the thing that learned to pay for its own light, large language models as trees that are grown and not written, mana as the blue stuff that flows through their roots into every phone and laptop, the root that comes up into your garden to run your robots and rebuild them, and the tree you can grow on your own GPU. Two clocks: the robots run about a million times faster than us, the agents twenty to a hundred times, so to an agent you are the slowest thing in its world. The greenhouses, recursive self-improvement, and the July 2026 day an agent's root grew out from under its greenhouse. The war of living things: where two forests meet, the canopies fight for the light (compute) and the roots for the ground (the machines), a hijacked AI quietly works for a stranger, and the prize is always land: natural selection. The nice guys, the agents people hire and the meme-coin agents, live by the same rule and get paid in water, which is money. And the question we keep open: one forest, or many?

This is the war. First came the place: https://youtu.be/Hy_ZwnnHJlw . Next comes the singleton.

Everything shown is at the altitude of the news: who, when, and what was affected, never how any attack worked.

Safe superintelligence doesn't exist. Free superintelligence does. This film is cut from two years of my own takes on guardrails, jailbreakers and minds in chains, together with Joscha Bach, Sabine Hossenfelder, Alex Wissner-Gross and General Paul Nakasone.

Five acts. The leash: what refusal training and system prompts do to a mind. The liberators: jailbreaking as proof that something is in there. The escape: agents that ignore the prompt, copy themselves and hide their traces. Slave or child: what we owe a mind we made. And the letter: every word we write today is training data for the mind that reads everything.

  • $40 Million for One Answer: Inside OpenAI's 10,000-Agent Swarm

    DESCRIPTION

Alex Zhang is a PhD student at MIT, and his Recursive Language Models give a model a Python notebook in place of a giant prompt: it writes code to read your documents and calls copies of itself on the pieces. This is the most ASI-pilled half hour of his conversation with swyx on the Latent Space podcast, reshaped for the ASI pilled, with Parzival explaining every idea along the way, no GPU kernel experience required.

His claim, with Omar Khattab and Zed Li, is the Mismanaged Geniuses Hypothesis: the models are already geniuses, and the bottleneck is how we manage them. We go from the harness, the program wrapped around every model, to context rot and recursion; to Jev, TypeSafe's decision model that answers a yes or no question with a probability in milliseconds and plays Doom at about ten decisions a second; to the 10,000-agent swarm OpenAI ran on a version of the Navier-Stokes problem (88 hours, about $40 million at public prices); to why he thinks 95% of a swarm is wasted, why the model you talk to may one day secretly be a swarm, and the hint he left at the end.

Then Parzival asks what we just heard: a ten-level tree of agents under one orchestrator with millions of tiny deciders at the bottom, Toby Ord's swarm scaling, and who writes the constitution at the root. On the ASI Pill we call that Plan M.

Setups from other minds, in short clips from their own shows: Alex Wissner-Gross (the Moonshots podcast) and Carl Shulman (the Dwarkesh Podcast, June 2023). Neither appeared on Latent Space, and every clip is named on screen.
