• #7 - Matthew Geroni

Social Media Baby! We got GravMasterHash himself, Matthew Geroni. Matthew is a TikTok Creator of Punk/DIY content. His Mission is to make pieces about the Punk/DIY community to educate and entertain people. His love of the community is very apparent in this episode, as he professes his love of the community to Kyle. They talk about how bands don’t always sell out, just outgrow the scene, how living in a central location with members of your community of artists helps creativity thrive, listening to your audience to help find what your voice is and much much more!

Before that, Kyle follows in the footsteps of GMH (a nickname that was just created) and created a TikTok account. Kyle has learned in his short time on the app that this platform, at this particular time, is the best place to get yourself seen by a lot of people. His creative rut is still there but he feels better than that.

Skip to 18:14 for the start of interview.

  • #6 - Anthony Brown

Anthony Brown joins Kyle on the podcast this week. Anthony is a multitalented individual. A Stand up Comedian, A Co-Host of the Podcast The Front Desk, The lead guitarist/singer/songwriter of the band Today Is… which has a new album coming out November 4th 2020 called “Ah The Joys of Mortgaging Your Future”. Kyle and Anthony talk about Anthony’s humbling beginning as a Model UN delegate, which spurred him into comedy. How a overhyped song from 2019 gave him the inspiration to write a new album. Breaking down comedy topics like which famous comedians we don’t like, cancel culture, attacking jokes from every angle, and the future of comedy. Writing this all out shows me how slightly antagonistic this episode is, which pairs well with Anthony’s comedy!

Before that, Kyle continues to have difficulties with being and staying creative, while holding himself accountable to keep him from slacking. Creativity is hard, yo.

  • #5 - Afia Atakora

Afia Atakora joins Kyle on this week’s episode. Afia just put out her debut novel, Conjure Women, in April 2020. (The book is great by the way and you should check it out!) Afia and Kyle discuss releasing a book during the time of the pandemic. They also discussed the writing process and how difficult it can be and working with an editor who was an advocate for Afia’s work.

Before that Kyle talks about his difficulties with writing and a sorta mission statement for the podcast. Also, right in the beginning of the interview, it is referenced that Kyle is an Uncle! Congrats Rebecca Kennedy on the birth of your daughter!

  • #4 - Andrea Pranzatelli

Andrea Pranzatelli is Comedian, Musician, Youtuber/Podcaster. Andrea has just started Stand Up Comedy in the middle of the pandemic, which to be honest sounds like the set up to a joke! Andrea also hosts a podcast on Youtube that had our host, Kyle, on as a guest. In fact, the audio is from that very same podcast episode! So we learn a lot about Kyle and Andrea in this episode, as they are new friends. They talk about why they got into stand up and the attraction stand up has. Since they are the same age, Andrea and Kyle talk about starting comedy a little later than most, also the anxieties that comes with that. And at then end Kyle pontificates on how the Joe Rogan/Spotify issue might resolve, as if Kyle is an authority on anything!

Before that Kyle talks about how he went on a short lock down due to the health and safety of a family member going in for surgery. How that lockdown affected his creative productivity, and how much better he feels getting on the other side of it!

Skip to 15:39 for the start of interview part.

  • #3 - Jay Hernandez (Mines Inc.)

Jay Hernandez is a musician, podcaster (on hiatus) and former comedian who never seems to age. Good For him. Jay just put out an album of music recorded over a decade ago called “Stick Together” In this episode, Jay and our host Kyle discuss Jays journey from Music to Comedy then back to Music, Why this is the time to release Stick Together, and both Jay and Kyle air out some personal demons, Kyle more so than Jay!

Before that Kyle talks about putting things off to the last minute (like these show notes which are being written less than an hour before the show is to be published), working through the misstep discussed in episode 2 and giving some context to the story he tells in this episode. The context may be confusing without the whole story so if you want the whole story, bother Kyle and he might just talk about in a future episode.

Mike Costaney is magical. That’s how this whole interview feels, magical! Mike Costaney is a Musician, Artist, Author, Director of Coffee at Bookserdoo, Tarot Card producer and much more. Mike and Kyle have a great conversation about why the past might be overblown in terms of reverence, Creative collaborators, Reality = Illusion?, and other topics.

Before that Kyle takes you through a comedy misstep and how he is dealing with it. Spoiler, not as good as he thinks. He’ll be fine.
