🔹 Tonight I interview Earla Phillips crossing the boarder to Canada and visit with one of our Gig Worker friends from the Toronto area (GTA for ya Canuks :) Earla has become involved with a grass roots organization called Technologists for Democracy https://techfordemocracy.ca and their push to educate Canadians on the threat Waymo poses, if they are allowed to operate in the GTA.

Earla Phillips has more than 11 years of experience as a rideshare driver with Uber and Lyft since rideshare services launched in Canada. As an active labour advocate for nearly 10 years and with more than 4 years as Vice-President of the Rideshare Drivers Association of Ontario, her advocacy focuses on driver earnings, transparency, safety, working conditions, and platform accountability within the gig economy. Earla has participated in lobbying, policy discussions, media engagement, and grassroots organizing at municipal, provincial, and federal levels. In 2024, she received the Voices for Fairness Award from the Drivers Union in Seattle, becoming the first Canadian recipient.
