Athalia Ponsell Lindsley was a well-known American model, Broadway dancer, and political activist who also appeared on the television show Winner Take All. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, to a wealthy family and spent a significant portion of her life in New York City.
Lindsley made an unsuccessful bid for state senator and planned to run for a seat on the St. Johns County, Florida Commission. During a county meeting in October 1973, she mentioned that her life had been threatened.
On January 23, 1974, Lindsley was attacked on the front steps of her home by a white middle-aged male wearing a white dress shirt and dark dress pants. She was struck nine times with a machete and nearly decapitated. The perpetrator was never identified, and Stanford, who was indicted, was acquitted after a two-hour jury deliberation. Critics have accused the police of botching the investigation and tainting evidence. Her murder occurred four months after she married James "Jinx" Lindsley, a former mayor of St. Augustine and successful real estate agent.
The murder remains unsolved to this day. Lindsley had an ongoing feud with her neighbor Alan Griffin Stanford Jr. regarding the six stray dogs she took in that barked incessantly.

Jarmecca Yvonne "Nikki" Whitehead was found dead in the bathroom of her Conyers, Georgia, home in 2010.
She had been beaten with a vase and stabbed repeatedly. Her 16-year-old identical twin daughters, Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah, were arrested four months later and charged with murder. In 2014, both pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and were sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The twins were initially raised by their great-grandmother and were honor roll students and Girl Scouts. In 2007, their mother requested custody of them but they clashed, resulting in counseling and juvenile court appearances. Whitehead regained custody on January 5, 2010, and was killed eight days later.
Evidence implicated the twins, including bite marks attributed to wounds inflicted by their mother during the fight. The medical examiner called the killing a crime of passion and not likely to have been performed by a stranger. The twins are currently serving their sentences in separate prisons within the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy50m | Mar 13, 2023 - Murdaugh Murder Saga - Part 1
The saga began in 2021 with the brutal murder of Murdaugh's wife and son, which was quickly followed by Murdaugh's own shooting in what was later revealed to be a staged crime. As the investigation unfolded, it exposed deep-seated corruption and unethical practices within the legal system in South Carolina.
After months of investigations, Murdaugh was finally indicted on charges related to the murder-for-hire plot against him. In September 2021, he pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and wire fraud, among others. He was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the crimes.
The case also involved Paul Murdaugh, Alex's son, who was awaiting trial for his alleged involvement in a fatal boating accident in 2019. The accident resulted in the death of a 19-year-old woman. Paul was also found dead at the family's hunting lodge in June 2021, just days before the murders of Alex's wife and son. The case against Paul was dropped following his death, but questions still remain about his involvement in the accident and his connection to the later crimes.
The resolution of the case brings a sense of closure for the families of the victims and the local community, which has been rocked by the revelations of corruption and unethical behavior among attorneys in the area. However, the case also serves as a cautionary tale of the consequences of unchecked power and corruption. Alex Murdaugh's guilty plea and life sentence are a reminder that justice will eventually be served, even in the most complex and high-profile cases.

In this week’s episode of Housewives of True Crime, Tabitha and Gretchen discuss the case of Laura Heist of Lititz, Pennsylvania. This case is truly unique. There is no murder. No foul play. Yet it garnered so much attention that Dr. Phil got involved.
“I know that it’s called Letitz, but I like to say little tits. Lil Tits, sounds like a rapper.” Gretchen – (07:41)
On February 8, 2002, Brenda simply disappeared after dropping her kids off to school. Within days, Brenda’s friends and family were contacted and the police issued a ‘be on the lookout’ for her. Lee was even regarded as a suspect in the sudden disappearance and had to take a polygraph to clear himself. A $5000 reward was announced for any news that would lead up to her. Despite all that, no solid leads turned up.
“Brenda might be a bad Brenda. Brenda might be a Karen.” Tabitha (12:20)
Finally, 7 years after Brenda was declared legally dead and 11 years after the disappearance, a breakthrough occurs – Brenda is found alive, living as a vagrant in Florida. This discovery occurred when she was arrested for narcotics and false ID. She had met another man and had even vacationed with him to the Caribbean. However, after that relationship ended, she went into a life of cleaning houses, stealing IDs and smoking marijuana, never once thinking about her 2 kids.
Eventually she realized she had had enough and went into a police station to confess her true identity. When news of this came out, it garnered so much media attention that even Dr. Phil went to see her in prison. She is currently living under care at a facility in Texas.
This case is a difficult one for Gretchen and Tabitha. Join them in today’s podcast as they debate what mother would just abandon her children and vanish for 11 years. They also talk about the possibility of Brenda and her children, now adults, reuniting, and what happened to the $100,000 life insurance policy that was paid out to her husband Lee after Brenda was declared legally dead. Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy56m | Feb 27, 2023 - Todd Winkler Episode –Todd Winkler, The Scissor Wielding Murderer
In this week’s episode of Housewives of True Crime, Tabitha and Gretchen discuss a case from Cameron Park, California.
The conversation focuses on Todd Winkler and the suspicious circumstances surrounding the murder of his wife Rachel. Tabitha and Gretchen start things off nicely by exchanging Presidents Day wishes but then things take a sudden turn as dirty secrets and grim details emerge about the day of the crime. Nothing is off the table in this episode as Gretchen and Tabitha talk about affairs, being cheated on, and whether women should keep the ring if it doesn’t work out.
“I don’t want to brag but I’ve been cheated on multiple times, believe it or not people.” – Gretchen (19:58)
From the outside, Rachel and Todd Winkler looked like a normal couple living together with their three children. Todd was an ex-F16 fighter pilot and Rachel was General Manager working near the airport. But nothing about their marriage was normal. Both had their fair share of dirty secrets including Todd faking a car crash to collect insurance money and Rachel having an affair with the maintenance man.
“By the way she did not hide her love affair with her neighbors. They saw James all the time. So maybe she just didn’t give a shit. Oh right, he is fixing my pipes at home. He is cleaning everything!” – Tabitha (18:18)
When word of the affair reached Todd, he confronted James about it to no avail. Things come to a head when Rachel decides to divorce Todd and confront him about the custody of the children. A scuffle ensues and Todd stabs Rachel citing self-defense. However, crime scene investigators find contradictory evidence and combined with the mysterious death of Todd’s wife from a previous marriage under similar circumstances, they arrest him and Todd is subsequently sentences to 26 years to life in prison. The children are sent to live with their grandparents. Heartbreak, humor, deception, and twists; it’s all happening on today’s episode of Housewives of True Crime.

Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy43m | Feb 20, 2023 - Obsession. Seduction. Manipulation. The Curious Case of Joyce McKinney and the Manacled Mormon Case
In this week’s episode of Housewives of True Crime, Tabitha and Gretchen talk about a case that is as unbelievable as it is insane. You have got to listen to this one because you simply cannot make this stuff up. Today, the focus is on Joyce McKinney, a former Miss World USA participant and her life of obsession, seduction, and manipulation.
Born in 1949 in North Carolina, Joyce was a pageant girl growing up and went on to be a contestant at Miss World 1973. She was very attractive and was said to be the complete package with the full blond beauty queen bombshell look, a great smile and bubbly personality, and an IQ of 168 to go with it (so she claims).
At 26, Joyce moved to Salt Lake City where she met Kirk, a Morman, who she fell in love with instantly. However, Kirk’s mother doesn’t approve of her not being Mormon. Joyce too is not impressed with Kirk’s mother and fat shames her.
“So basically, why I am explaining all of this is so you get a feel for this beautiful, eccentric, self-centered, total bitch that is Joyce McKinney.” – Gretchen (16:52)
When Kirk goes away for missionary work, she doesn’t reveal his whereabouts to Joyce. That’s when Joyce’s obsession goes into overdrive. She hires a private investigator who successfully locates Kirk in England. She also meets Keith who advises her to hire a pilot and a bodyguard to fly to the UK, rescue Kirk and bring him back.
She does exactly that and flies to England where finds Kirk and sends Keith to the Church to bring him out to meet with her. She then takes Kirk to a cottage and seduces him for 3 days. Meanwhile, the church, worried that Kirk has suddenly gone missing, contacts local authorities and news outlets. When Kirk returns to the church, he changes his story, and says that he was tied up, seduced and raped for 3 days by Joyce. Both Joyce and Keith are arrested soon after and the media crowns Kirk, the Manacled Mormon.
“Oh, he popped it up huh, after you tie him up” – Tabitha (26:26)
“Joyce also doesn’t believe raping a man is possible. She says you can’t put a marshmallow in a parking meter.” – Gretchen (26:38)
This became mainstream news and lots of reporters and people turned up at Joyce’s bail hearing making her a celebrity in an instant. Joyce, being extremely resourceful, manages to get fake travel documents for both her and Keith and get stateside. This outrages the British media who in turn dig into her past and track down a man called Steve who eagerly spills the beans of Joyce’s other embarrassing secrets.
Joyce’s obsession with Kirk doesn’t end as she is arrested again in 1984 at Salt Lake City airport where Kirk works. After that incident, she lives quietly but becomes very paranoid of reporters trespassing on her property. She gets mauled by her guard dog and after that takes a liking to another dog, Booger who stays loyal to her until his death. Joyce takes that loss to heart and instead of losing Booger, flies to South Korea to get him cloned and comes back with 5 clones and moves to California.
Joyce is arrested again in 2019 for a fatal hit and run of a 91-year-old Holocaust survivor. She is deemed unfit to stand trial and is sent to a mental hospital where she is today.

For this week's case, Tabitha takes us back to the Lonestar state and focuses on the tragic murder of Belinda Temple and the jarring investigation to capture the culprit.
Belinda Temple was a special education teacher, and her husband David Temple was a former football star turned football coach in Katy, TX. They met in college, fell in love, got married, and Belinda gave birth to their son, Evan. They were living the perfect family life, with an unborn daughter on the way as well.
“David was instantly attracted to Belinda and friends said that they were just one of those perfect couples.” - Tabitha (13:17)
On January 19th, 1999, everything changed. Belinda got a call that Evan was sick and needed to be picked up from daycare early. Because of a work meeting, David was asked to pick Evan up. After the meeting, Belinda went to her in-laws to pick up some soup for Evan and headed home. David told Belinda he was taking Evan to the park, but instead made a series of detours and went back home after awhile.
David got home and found Belinda in their closet with a shotgun wound to her head. Police were called and an autopsy determined Belinda Temple was murdered execution style. As the husband and the person who found Belinda, David is the primary suspect for investigators. David does not convince investigators of his innocence, but there is no concrete evidence pointing at him as the murderer.
As police continue their investigations, other potential suspects begin to surface. As these other suspects and people close to the Temple family start to talk, the shiny cover of the perfect family gets shattered as a completely darker side of the picture perfect relationship between David and Belinda is revealed…
“Yeah, it's like there's being a dick and then there is extra.” - Gretchen (39:38)

Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy55m | Feb 6, 2023 - Crazy Stupid Love: Teenager Kills Two Elderly Women For Older Girlfriend in Bryan, TX
For this week's case, Gretchen takes us to the Lonestar state and focuses on the small town of Bryan, TX. Our story centers on elderly neighbors Geraldine Lloyd and Etta Jean Westbrook. These ladies were widows and friends who lived on the same street together in 2007.
Etta Jean was a loving woman who spent her time making pottery and being active in her church. Geraldine was focused on looking after her daughter, Kelly Sifuentez, and her grandchildren after Kelly’s marriage fell apart. Kelly spiraled and engaged in many reckless behaviors, including drug and alcohol issues. Worst of all, she engaged in a romantic relationship with 14-year-old Christian Olsen. Kelly and Christian dated for years until Christian was finally 18. It was at this point that tragedy would come to the town of Bryan, TX.
“So obviously, Kelly, with the drugs and the statutory raping, is not a good choice maker.” - Gretchen (20:35)
After a windstorm, police went through the neighborhood, checking on everyone. This is when Etta Jean was discovered dead. After an autopsy, it is discovered she was murdered, so police begin a homicide investigation. Etta Jean’s credit cards were stolen, and the now 18-year old Christian Olsen has them. After interrogating Christian, police search Geraldine’s home where Kelly and Christian are living. Tragedy strikes again as Geraldine’s body is discovered in the backyard, and she has been dead for months. Now, police have a double homicide on their hands, and all fingers point to Christian and Kelly.
“They went back to Kelly, and basically, she just pinned it all on Christian.
She said she was asleep when it happened, and she didn't turn him in because she was afraid she would go to prison as well.” - Gretchen (34:44)
