Why is Donnie Darko so beloved and why does Phil Ranta feel it's unjustly revered??
We're back and Phil Ranta returns to assail one of the most recently beloved cult classics, Donnie Darko. Phil gets on a soapbox and methodically elucidates why this Jake Gyllenhaal and Maggie Gyllenhaal time travel movie ain't no Back to the Future. Phil explains why Frank the rabbit completely screws up the space time continuum, why this movie sends a terrible message to teens with suicidal thoughts, what the hell is going on with the Patrick Swayze role, and how Drew Barrymore's antics wouldn't even be tolerated in 1988, let alone 2023.
Sitting in with Kevin Gootee is his all time favorite co-host, Kevin Israel. Can Phil get the hat trick with his 3rd gutting? Or is his argument worse than Seth Rogen playing the role of a bully in this film. Yep, this happened.
Is this the best recent cult classic? Are you tired of clickbait-y questions? Too bad, we've got more with some laughs. So tell a friend why you love this podcast.
Do you think Phil stands a chance in taking out the knees of this beloved indie classic? Let's see if Lisa can Gut...the..sacred...cow!

Just as the nerds are sheathing their swords, another Wes Anderson finds itself on the business end of a broad axe. Lisa Curry, opener for Jim Jefferies, gets a megaphone to shout why Rushmore is one of the worst high school comedies ever made. Lisa explains how Bill Murray, Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, and why Jason Schwartzman's nepotism tanks the film. Lisa also explains how she went to a super rowdy school in (checks notes) Crown Pointe, Indiana. Well, they all can't be the high school from Lean on Men. Kevin Gootee taps the shoulder of old pal, AC Roe (The Conversation on Hulu) to jump on this USS Enterprise of bemusement.
Where do you rank Rushmore on the list of great comedies? Is this Wes Anderson's best film? Are you tired of clickbait-y questions? Too bad, we've got more with some laughs. So tell a friend why you love this podcast.

Hey trick or treaters! Seynique Smythe makes her premier appearance for our Halloween episode and explains why the original Amityville Horror is like finding razor blades in your candy. James Brolin (Mr Barbra Streisand) and Margot Kidder (Lois Lane in the Superman movies) aren't impressing her. She shows Kevin Gootee and guest host Delvin Cox why this possessed home story doesn't even scare the real estate agent trying to sell that house. Perfect way to enjoy your Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), Mischief Night, and Halloween festivities. Looking for a Halloween costume idea? How about a slutty Kevin Gootee costume? Or a slutty gutter? No? Sigh, fine. Also, did you know there are TWO cameos from Back to the Future actors as well as a topless Lois Lane from Superman?
We hear Seynique's and Kevin Gootee's ghost stories, how black women LOVE Lifetime movies, Delvin Cox's sleep paralysis, famous houses from film and TV that the neighbors are sick of people visiting. Also, Kevin and Delvin discuss Star Wars Jedi Survivor in a little gaming talk. Lastly, Seynique and Delvin bust Kevin's stones by asking what it was like growing up in the 80's. Spoiler alert, pretty f---ing rad.
Do you think Seynique stands a chance in gutting this horror classic?

You have to been as flummoxed as Kevin Gootee and Kevin Israel were when Don made his selection. Why does he hate Tommy, Henry, Paulie, Janice Rossi, the whore in 2R, and of course, KAAAAAAREN!

The Citizen Kane of quirky, nerd comedies is possibly about to get its comeuppance. The Royal Tenenbaums is debatably the best of Wes Anderson films. Gene Hackman, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson (thankfully they have different hair color and noses), Gwyneth Paltrow (I hate that I had to google her correct name spelling and remind myself that her kid's name is Apple) Ben Stiller, and Roger Murtaugh himself round out this cast of Upper West Siders you would never invite over your house.
Enter Scotty Landes, podcast host of Banana along with Kurt Braunohler, writer of Ma, Burt Kreischer's "The Machine" movie that was out earlier this year. The boys discuss what movies to put on to while inviting a lady over the house. Do you think Wes Anderson is a genius and Scotty is insane? Many will argue that Old School is one of the greatest fraternity college films in the last 20 years as well as all time. You get Vince Vaughn post Swingers, Psycho, and Made. Will Ferrall gets his coming out party. Luke Wilson is...Luke Wilson. Scientologist Leah Remini before she was deprogrammed Jeremy Piven and his wife from Entourage. And dare we forget Blue because he's our boy? So why does Abby Barr hate this film?
Kevin Gootee invites host of MORNIN on Anthony Cumia's Compound Media back on to co-host, Bill Schulz. The also discusses and asks, have any of you taken a class on how to give a BJ like Andy Dick taught? Where does this rank on your favorite college and R-rated comedies?

What's the first African-American comic book movie that opened the door for the MCU and DCEU? It's not Meteor Man, Kazaam, or Steel...it's Blade! The man who refused to pay taxes, Wesley Snipes, slays vampires and the dialogue. We also get Tracey Lords in a non-porno film where she's NOT underage. After all that, what's not to like? Rob Patrick explains why despite being culturally important, the plot and especially CGI, is a bloody tampon. Cause remember, it's open season on all suck heads. Just as Kris Kristofferson.
As good pals do, Delvin Cox RSVP'ed yes to Kevin Gootee's invitation to co-host. Delvin grabs his sunglasses, black trench coat, and sees if Rob's anti-Blade argument is just like some motherf----er trying to ice skate uphill.
Where do you stand on Blade? Think it's still a banger? Never liked it? Come on our social medias and let us know!

The most Gen-X fantasy/fairy tale film finally meets its executioner and her name is Juliette Miranda. The NeverEnding Story sucked in kids to live through a book that had a horse drawn in mud, a wolf who liked children a little too much, a dad who drank raw eggs and orange juice, and a furry llama that did nothing except fly. Joining host Kevin Gootee is king of New Orleans snark, David the Producer. Does Wolfgang Pedersen deserve to have a pedophile wolf eat him for creating this film?
Juliette, David the Producer, and KG also discuss which films have made them tear up as kids or as adults. Also, the trio fire out their favorite fantasy and Pixar movies. What other 80s fantasy films do you like? And what films STILL make you tear up or get sad as an adult?
Let's also see if Chat GPT can FINALLY write better jokes than Kevin Gootee. But most importantly, let's see if Juliette can Gut...the..sacred...cow!
