Statin Drugs and Cholesterol

Today, as a follow-up to our discussion on Heart Disease (podcasts #56 and #57), we’re discussing “Statin Drugs.”
Statins are a group of drugs that can reduce high cholesterol which may lowering your risk of atherosclerosis and heart problems.
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, digestion problems, muscle pain, muscle damage, liver damage and neurological side effects. Another reported side effect of statins is Type 2 Diabetes.
There are natural ways to lower your cholesterol without medication, including: limit unhealthy fats, get your omega-3’s, cut back on sugar and alcohol, quit smoking, exercise on most days, and develop healthy sleep habits.
