Violence Against Women Amidst the Pandemic

Violence against women has worsened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on survey data from 13 countries, shows that almost 1 in 2 women reported that they or a woman they know experienced a form of violence since the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the United Nations kicked off the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, from 25 November to 10 December, under the theme set by the UN Secretary-General’s UNiTE campaign, “Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!”

In celebration of this campaign, we - JJ, Ayish, Jamie, and Jazz - prepared this podcast where we will be talking about the struggle of women during the pandemic. We will be answering some frequently asked questions in relation to VAWC during the pandemic based on research and news reports we have gathered.
