1h 27m - Mar 18, 2024 - Preventing Religious and Spiritual Abuse in the Church with Heidi Ellis - ep. 15
While church was instituted to be a loving community in which we can all pursue Jesus together, many people have had negative experiences with the church. Some of which have even led to psychological harm! One of my best friends, Heidi Ellis has recently completed a doctoral dissertation on this very issue! Her insights in what's going on, how do we measure it, and how do we prevent it are valuable for any church goer, and even more valuable for those who lead churches like myself!

57m - Feb 26, 2024 - A Theology of Work PT. II: The Early Church - ep. 14
It's not something I normally do, but today i'm sharing a sermon that I gave this week at my church, Pond Hill! It's a companion to the previous sermon, so I'd suggest listening to last episode before this one. I talked about work being intrinsic to the purpose of humanity!
This week, I'll discuss the early church's work ethic. They were radically others-focused and at the center of their generosity was the practice of breaking bread. We'll discuss what that means and how it has implications for us today!

39m - Feb 13, 2024 - A Theology of Work: The Beginning - ep. 13
It's not something I normally do, but today i'm sharing a sermon that I gave this week at my church, Pond Hill! I talked about work being intrinsic to the purpose of humanity! Specifically, God creates the humans to become His partners in the creative work itself! This is something that's very clear in Genesis, but very absent from teaching today! Dive into our origin story and unlock one of the true purposes for mankind.

1h 8m - Dec 7, 2023 - Evolution and its (in?)Compatibility with the Bible with Prof. Michael Sellers - ep. 10
I got the pleasure of sitting down with Michael Sellers, who is an established professor of biology at the University of New Haven in Connecticut. He has a masters degree in Biological Sciences and has a ton of experience in the field. While not necessarily being a professed Christian, he does have a history with the church and is sympathetic towards the Bible and the Way of Jesus. We had a fascinating conversation about evolution and what it might mean for the Christian faith. We discuss both points of tension and points of compatibility between evolution and a traditional evangelical perspective about the origin of the world and the nature of God's creation.

56m - Sep 29, 2023 - Being Challenged by the Living Word of God with Patty Nunez, 1 Corinthians V, ep. 7
The Bible talks about itself as a "living Word." For readers today, this often becomes clear as we engage with familiar texts, but receive new understanding after each reading. Often, these themes that become clear to us are timely for us today. That's certainly true of this conversation with Patty Nunez. Together, we walk through the ways that 1 Corinthians came alive to her during our study of 1 Corinthians.
