NEJM Oct 22 2026 Milvexian with Antiplatelet Therapy after Acute Coronary Syndrome Event

1m | Oct 28, 2026

A recent clinical trial investigated whether the medication milvexian could safely lower the chances of secondary heart attacks and strokes in individuals recovering from acute coronary syndrome. Researchers administered either milvexian or a placebo alongside standard antiplatelet treatments to over fourteen thousand participants in this global study. Ultimately, the investigation was halted early because an interim review determined the drug failed to show any benefit in preventing major cardiovascular events. Furthermore, the data revealed no significant difference in severe bleeding rates between the group receiving milvexian and those given the placebo. Scientists ultimately concluded that adding milvexian to conventional therapy does not improve protection against future ischemic incidents for these patients.
