Topics: A solar eclipse for the first time since 1979 today (if clouds stay away) and Brandon University is offering telescopes and welding glasses for a dollar each to view the partial eclipse 12:45 pm to 3:00 pm. The Brandon School Division says it’ll be keeping students inside during the eclipse. I was in Kindergarten. We all wore bellbottom pants, and cable TV had not arrived yet. It was 1979 and Manitoba had a FULL Solar Eclipse. During solar eclipse, some Indigenous groups believe it’s not just your eyes that need protecting. Some believe you should wear black if you are pregnant. Keep infants away from windows. Scientists will look out for odd behavior in animals. Will Cell Phones Work? Canadian telecoms prepare for eclipse. As the moon crosses the sun and darkness descends on parts of the US Monday, people will hold their cellphones skyward to capture the eclipse. And some worry communications infrastructure may also go dark. $1.50 hot dogs GONE?!?! Time to RIOT!!! Costco members may visit the warehouse chain to buy in bulk, but a $1.50 hot dog combo doesn’t hurt. So, when the food court staple runs out, people do riot. At least online. Air New Zealand Passenger Pees in a Cup and Then Spills Urine on Flight Attendant. Passenger fined, but not before a drunken debacle that is one for the record books. Booze strikes again.
