1h 15m - Aug 30, 2023 - May You Fart With Radiance | Of The Silmarils
The pod takes a big stride in this episode: talking about the chapter that sets the rest of the book in motion. Did Feanor do nothing wrong? Will Andy Serkis accept the Fellowship's open invitation to come on the show? Why were the Manichaeans so interested in farts? These questions, and many more, will be pondered on this illustrious episode.

1h 40m - May 17, 2023 - A Modest Proposal for The Future of the Western Canon
Zach and Lee (sans Maddie) give Nick a proper hearing out of his modest proposal for the benefit of the literary canon. He had 8 main points as of this moment. What do you think?
1. Seriousness is not a virtue. Humor can and should be considered among the heights of literature. We recognize the genius of Aristophanes or Swift, but pure humor is rarely given a high place in the modern literary canon.
2. Sin is not to be celebrated.
3. Plot is more important than character.
4. Realism is not a virtue. Fantasy and science fiction have been and are immensely powerful tools in examining the big questions of the West.
5. A work gains canon status through merit, not characteristics of the author. We don’t need women or minorities to be artificially propped into the literary canon, though if deserved, they should be included.
6. True creativity is not the haphazard abandonment of established norms, but working well within them.
7. Retrieval of the Northern European (see Tolkien)
8. Mystery genre needs more respect

1h 16m - May 3, 2023 - My Liver's Still Stained From Eating Trix | Of Thingol and Melian
Maddie, Nick, and Lee discuss terrible book design (skip to 32:19 if you'd rather not listen to them talk about book covers you can't see, or watch on YouTube). Then they finally move to the next chapter of the Silmarillion "Of Thingol and Melian" and consider some of the metaphysical and *perhaps* incarnational elements of this short but provocative chapter.
Oh and there are cereal reminiscences and then the trio recasts the doomed new LOTR production.
