36m | Apr 3, 2022

In this episode Tonya Nash, a public health consultant and mom to two sons with autism came by the cafe to share lessons she has learned as a mom to children with special needs. Grab your warm drink and tune in for a great conversation!

Some key takeaways included:

  • Thinking about out of the box solutions to get the services that you need
  • Seeking the help of a respite care provider
  • There are tons of ways you can help families e.g. meal trains, gas cards, etc, but most importantly, ensure that you create an atmosphere in your group that is inclusive, that will allow all children to participate. Remember to show that you're here and that you care, but don't give any unsolicited advice!
