Why the Premier League’s attempts to takeover WSL is bad for women’s football

25m | Jul 23, 2020

This week, we return with our crash course segment “In Focus” - where we talk about the EPL’s plan to take over the WSL from the FA and the potential effects this move will have. Host Harry looks at the pros and cons of such a takeover, before offering an insight into the future for women’s football in England. Even though a takeover may bring in more investment, he concludes that a takeover might not benefit the WSL as much as some may think.

We also look at the biggest news from this week: the formation of LA-based football team “Angel City” led by big names such as Serena Williams and Natalie Portman, the announcement of the winners of WSL awards, and the signing of Danielle Carter and Emma Mitchell at Reading.

Let us know what you think about it (and remember to share and leave a review!
