Real Life Real Crime | Where Is Alayna? Part 2: The Man Called Trevor and the Warning Signs
A relationship that began online. A trip to Texas. A missing vehicle. And a man whose identity was not what it seemed.
In Part 2 of Where Are Danielle and Alayna?, Cyndi Overton continues investigating the disappearance of 39-year-old Danielle Escue Lea and her daughter, Alayna Lea, from East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.
The story returns to February 2026, when Danielle reportedly traveled to Texas to meet a man she knew as Trevor. According to the family's timeline, Danielle crossed into Mexico during that trip and later returned to Louisiana without her vehicle. Relatives say she initially could not provide a clear explanation of where the car had been left.
On March 1, concerns about Danielle's safety prompted a welfare check at her Jackson, Louisiana, home. Although family members reported that Danielle had expressed fear about Trevor, the responding officers documented a different account. The police report also identified the man as Dusty Lee Crawford, a name Danielle's family did not recognize. They would later discover that this was not his true identity either.
As the weeks passed, relatives became increasingly concerned about Trevor's involvement in Danielle and Alayna's lives. He reportedly attended a medical appointment involving Alayna's medications, communicated with her grandmother, and became involved in plans to sell Danielle's inherited home and relocate to the Atchafalaya Basin area.
Cyndi reconstructs the family's timeline through March and April, including accounts from Danielle's best friend, Amanda Smith, and Alayna's grandmother, Wanda Broussard. The episode examines concerning communications, reported incidents near Butte La Rose, and the circumstances that led Alayna to spend time with relatives.
By April 25, Wanda had what she describes as her final personal contact with Alayna. Just two days later, on April 27, 2026, Danielle and Trevor reportedly appeared at Alayna's school and withdrew her before the school year ended.
Throughout the episode, Cyndi carefully distinguishes police documentation from family accounts, reported statements and unresolved questions. The series does not presume what happened to Danielle or Alayna, but follows the available information to identify the events that may help explain their disappearance.
Anyone with information about Danielle or Alayna is asked to contact law enforcement directly.

The man Danielle knew as Trevor became a central source of concern for her family. According to the March 1 police report, he identified himself as Dusty Lee Crawford. The family later learned that this was not his true identity. The discrepancy raises important questions, but does not by itself establish what happened to Danielle or Alayna.
The family's concerns developed over time rather than from one isolated event. Danielle's trip to Texas, the missing vehicle, reported conversations about Alayna's medical care, the sale of Danielle's home and plans to relocate all contributed to relatives' growing unease.
Documented facts and family accounts must be evaluated separately. The March 1 welfare check illustrates why that distinction matters. Family members describe Danielle expressing fear before officers arrived, while the police report documents her saying she did not want the man removed from her home. The available records do not establish why those statements differed.
April 25 and April 27 are important dates in the timeline. Wanda reports that April 25 was the last day she personally saw or spoke with Alayna. On April 27, Danielle and Trevor reportedly withdrew Alayna from school. These dates help establish the sequence of events without suggesting that April 25 was necessarily Alayna's last confirmed sighting.
The next stage of the investigation will examine what happened after Alayna left school. Part 3 will follow the family's attempts to locate Danielle and Alayna, investigate Trevor's identity and understand the events surrounding their disappearance.
Someone may have information that can help bring Danielle and Alayna home. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact law enforcement directly and explain how the information relates to this missing-person investigation.
Never give up, never surrender.
