  • Episode 196: "Fanboys" (2009) With Rob The Movie Geek!

    Welcome back, Radical Ones!

Our Star Wars Summer has officially reached its SEASON FINALE, and we’re ending things with a movie made for every obsessive movie geek who has ever counted down the days to a new Star Wars adventure: “Fanboys” from 2009!

And who better to join us for the finale than the return of our original co-host and resident Movie Geek, Rob!

Set in 1998, Fanboys follows a group of lifelong Star Wars fanatics during the unbelievable hype leading up to Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. When they learn their friend Linus may not live long enough to see the movie, the gang resurrects an old childhood dream: take a cross-country road trip, break into Skywalker Ranch, and steal an early look at Episode I!

What follows is a ridiculous Star Wars-fueled adventure packed with Star Wars references, arguments with Trekkies, friendship, nostalgia, road-trip insanity and some incredible cameos from familiar faces including Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Ray Park, William Shatner, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes.

But underneath all the jokes, Fanboys is really about something we know very well around here: holding onto the movies, characters and memories that meant everything to us growing up.

“Fanboys follows a group of lifelong Star Wars fans on a cross-country mission to infiltrate Skywalker Ranch and see The Phantom Menace before its release. Set against the enormous anticipation surrounding Episode I, the 2009 comedy combines road-trip madness, geek culture, friendship, nostalgia and a genuine love letter to Star Wars fandom.”

Stars: Sam Huntington, Chris Marquette, Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel, Kristen Bell, Seth Rogen, Danny Trejo, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Ray Park, William Shatner, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes.

So grab your lightsabers one last time as Rob the Movie Geek returns, we say goodbye to Star Wars Summer and officially close out another season of Radical Retro Rewind?!

And don’t go too far, Radical Ones… because the road to our 200TH EPISODE is officially underway and we’ll also be heading back to Third Earth for ThunderCats 2011! ⚡️

  • Episode 195: "Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure" & “The Battle for Endor” (1984/1985)

    Welcome back, Radical Ones!

Our Star Wars Summer takes one last trip to the forest moon of Endor as we tackle BOTH live-action Ewok movies: “Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure” (1984) and “Ewoks: The Battle for Endor” (1985)!

And who better to join us than the return of our friend and Ewok fan our Lovely Leah!

First, Caravan of Courage introduces us to young siblings Cindel and Mace Towani, who find themselves stranded on Endor after their family’s starcruiser crashes. With their parents missing, the children team up with Wicket and a brave caravan of Ewoks on a fantasy-filled quest through the forests of Endor.

Then things get MUCH darker in The Battle for Endor, as Cindel and Wicket face the invading Sanyassan Marauders, led by the villainous Terak and aided by the witch Charal. Along the way, they meet the wonderfully grumpy hermit Noa Briqualon and his speedy little companion Teek.

These movies may be strange, cheesy, surprisingly dark and unlike almost anything else in the Star Wars universe… but for Ewok fans, they’re also a wonderfully weird piece of 1980s Star Wars history.

“Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and The Battle for Endor expand the world of Endor beyond Return of the Jedi, blending Star Wars with classic fantasy, family adventure, monsters, magic and plenty of Ewoks. Originally released as television films in 1984 and 1985, the two adventures follow Wicket and young Cindel Towani through two very different journeys across the forest moon."

Stars: Warwick Davis, Aubree Miller, Eric Walker, Fionnula Flanagan, Guy Boyd, Wilford Brimley, Siân Phillips, Carel Struycken, Niki Botelho, Paul Gleason, Daniel Frishman, Debbie Lee Carrington, Tony Cox, Kevin Thompson, Margarita Fernández and Pam Grizz.

  • Episode 193: "Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi" (2017)

    Welcome back, Radical Ones!

Our Star Wars Summer continues this week as we jump into "Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi" from 2017!

Luke Skywalker has finally been found... but let's just say he's not exactly thrilled to have company. Rey begins her Jedi training, the Resistance is hanging on by a thread, Leia takes an unexpected trip through space that had audiences yelling what in the "Mary Poppins?!", oh and Kylo Ren decides it's time to shake up the galaxy.

Meanwhile, David is happy to report that he STILL hates Snoke, and somehow the giant hologram manages to become even more ridiculous. Will The Last Jedi win David over... or just add even more fuel to his rant?

Its time...steer clear of Canto Bight and join us as we tackle one of the most talked-about (and divisive!) films in the entire Star Wars saga. May the Force be with you... because David's opinions certainly will!

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues the Skywalker saga as Rey seeks guidance from a reluctant Luke Skywalker while the Resistance fights to survive pursuit by the First Order. Featuring striking visuals, bold storytelling choices, and complex character arcs, it challenges expectations within the Star Wars universe. While divisive among fans, it is widely praised for its ambition, emotional depth, and inventive expansion of the series' mythology."

Stars: Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran and Frank Oz.

  • Episode 192: "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens" (2015)

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡

STAR WARS SUMMER continues and we blast more than 30 years into the future as Ryan and David take on "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens!"

A new generation has arrived, the First Order is rising, Luke Skywalker is missing, and Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, and Kylo Ren are stepping into a galaxy filled with some very familiar faces. But the real question is… has the Force awakened something in David?! Because he has A LOT to say this week, and one thing is already very clear: David is NOT impressed by Snoke.

And here’s what makes this next chapter of Star Wars Summer even more fun: David has absolutely NO CLUE what happens in this upcoming trilogy. No spoilers, no idea where Rey’s story is going, no clue what’s coming for Kylo Ren, Luke, Snoke, or anyone else. Ryan knows what’s ahead. David does not. And we’re going to experience every twist, reaction, complaint, and “WHAT?!” right along with him.

Grab your lightsaber, hop aboard the Falcon, and join us as Star Wars Summer officially enters the sequel trilogy with The Force Awakens!

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes place 30 years after the fall of the Empire as a new threat, the First Order, rises. Desert scavenger Rey and defecting stormtrooper Finn join Han Solo and Chewbacca in a desperate quest tied to the missing Luke Skywalker. Mixing nostalgic elements with fresh characters, thrilling action, and visual spectacle, it’s widely regarded as an exciting, if familiar, chapter that reinvigorated the saga."

Stars: Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Max von Sydow.

  • Episode 191: "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi" (1983)

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡

STAR WARS SUMMER continues as we reach the final chapter of the original trilogy with 1983’s "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi"

This week, Ryan and David are joined by our special guest and longtime listener, Lovely Leah, joining us all the way from Australia! Leah is a huge science-fiction and Star Wars fan, but she is also an important part of the podcast behind the scenes. Each week, she supplies us with the movie audio clips we use during our ThunderCats reviews and beyond!

Jabba’s Palace also unlocks one of Ryan’s childhood memories as he shares the story of the Jabba the Hutt-inspired play he put on in the fifth grade, which somehow became complete mass hysteria!

Together, we journey from the strange creatures and musical numbers of Jabba’s Palace to the forests of Endor, the unfinished second Death Star, and the emotional final confrontation between Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and the Emperor. Along the way, we discuss adding Ewoks blinks , “Yub Nub,” Vader’s redemption, and whether anyone in Jabba’s Palace sleeps somewhere that is not behind one giant curtain?!

Join us as we laugh, get nostalgic, and become surprisingly emotional while celebrating the movie that brought the original Star Wars trilogy to a powerful and hopeful conclusion.

As always: May the Force be with you, Radical Ones!

“Return of the Jedi concludes the original Star Wars trilogy with the Rebel Alliance mounting a daring plan to end the Empire once and for all, while Luke Skywalker faces his greatest personal test in confronting Darth Vader and the Emperor. • Radical Bonus Episode: “The Muppet Show: The Stars Of Star Wars!” (1980)

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡

This week on Radical Retro Rewind?!, Radical Ones, we’re taking a slight detour through Star Wars Summer… because somehow the galaxy far, far away crashed straight into The Muppet Show! Ryan and David unexpectedly find themselves on a variety show planet where Jedi, frogs, pigs, droids, and one extremely disappointed gargling gargoyle all compete for the spotlight.

Can Luke Skywalker convince everyone that Mark Hamill is merely his “cousin”? Will Kermit ever forgive the Star Wars crew for stealing his show? Can R2-D2 finally fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a performer? And will poor Angus McGonagle, the Argyle Gargoyle who gargles Gershwin gorgeously, ever get to finish a single song?

Join us as we celebrate one of the strangest, funniest, and most beloved television crossovers ever made, featuring Muppet mayhem, Pigs in Space, sheep singing doo-wop, Chewbacca being kidnapped by “a bunch of weird turkeys,” and enough backstage chaos to make Mos Eisley look organized.

“The episode begins with Luke, C-3PO, and R2-D2 smashing through the Muppet Theatre wall in search of Chewbacca, who has been “Wookiee-napped” by Gonzo, parodying a villain named Dearth Nadir Fandom Fandom +1 . Kermit initially struggles to manage the chaos, while Miss Piggy steps in as Princess Leia during the Swinetrek space adventure Fandom Fandom . Mark Hamill’s character performs musical numbers, adding a comedic contrast to Luke’s heroic presence IMDb IMDb . • Episode 190: "Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back" (1980)

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡

STAR WARS SUMMER continues as Ryan and David are blasting off into the darker, colder, moodier chapter of the galaxy far, far away “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back)” (1980)

This episode has everything: Leia serving “if looks could kill” energy, Han being charming and infuriating at the exact same time, C-3PO getting taken apart like a action figure, R2-D2 screaming through every crisis, and Luke learns that if a ghost tells you to go to a swamp planet while you’re freezing to death, you just go!

We talk Hoth childhood nostalgia, the Wampa cave, Mark Hamill’s real-life accident and how it connects to Luke’s look, Vader’s dramatic meditation pod reveal, Cloud City betrayal, Lando and of course the arm count continuing because in Star Wars, someone is always losing a limb before the credits roll.

Plus, we get into one of the biggest movie twists of all time, Han being frozen like the galaxy’s most handsome TV dinner, Leia kissing Luke before the universe fully sorted out the family tree, and why The Empire Strikes Back still feels like the sequel every sequel wants to be when it grows up.

“The Empire Strikes Back finds the Rebel Alliance on the run from the Empire’s relentless pursuit. As Han Solo and Princess Leia evade capture across the galaxy, Luke Skywalker trains with Jedi Master Yoda to prepare for a fateful confrontation with Darth Vader. With stunning visuals, deeper character development, and a darker, more mature tone than its predecessor, it’s widely regarded as one of cinema’s greatest sequels and a must-watch classic."

STAR WARS SUMMER continues as Ryan and David finally arrive at the one that started it all, “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” (1977)

This week, the Radical Ones are treated to a very special message from Academy Award winner Roger Christian! Roger won an Oscar for set decoration on George Lucas’s Star Wars: A New Hope, helping create the unforgettable lived-in look of a galaxy far, far away. Roger is best known for winning an Academy Award for set decoration on the original Star Wars and an Oscar nomination for Alien. He created the first lightsaber prop, directed cult short Black Angel and features like The Sender and Nostradamus.

Ryan and David dive into the movie that changed pop culture forever, from Luke whining about power converters, Han Solo’s questionable “charming criminal” energy, Obi-Wan disappearing into a pile of laundry as Vader dramatically stamps on his empty cloak to make sure he’s really gone...all while Vader breaths like he just walked up three flights of stairs in full leather.

  • Episode 188: "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016)

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡️

STAR WARS SUMMER continues as Ryan and David head into one of the most beloved entries of the Disney era, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016)!

This week, the Radical Ones are also treated to a special message from legendary visual effects supervisor Hal Hickel! A longtime member of Industrial Light & Magic, Hal is known for his incredible work on the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Rogue One, The Mandalorian, and countless other projects that helped bring a galaxy far, far away to life.

The brothers also discuss Jyn Erso action figures mysteriously occupying clearance shelves across the galaxy, the emotional bond between Chirrut and Baze, Darth Vader’s unforgettable hallway rampage, and whether Rogue One might secretly be the best film of the Disney Star Wars era.

Grab your Death Star plans, avoid Director Krennic’s latest attempt to get credit for someone else’s project, and remember: “I am one with the Force and the Force is with me...I am one with the Force and the Force is with me...”

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a standalone entry in the Star Wars universe, directed by Gareth Edwards. It is set immediately before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope and tells the story of a group of rebels on a desperate mission to steal the plans for the Empire’s Death Star. With a darker tone than many other entries in the saga, Rogue One adds depth to the Star Wars mythos, focusing on the sacrifices of ordinary people fighting against tyranny.”

Stars: Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker.

STAR WARS SUMMER continues as Ryan and David jump into one of the most debated adventures in a galaxy far, far away with SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY (2018)!

What starts as a simple escape quickly turns into train robberies, criminal syndicates, and enough questionable life choices to explain exactly how Han Solo became Han Solo. Along the way, he meets Chewbacca, crosses paths with Lando Calrissian, acquires the Millennium Falcon, and begins building the reputation that will one day make him a legend.

Meanwhile, Chewbacca proves he’s the most reliable friend in the galaxy, Lando proves he’s the best-dressed man in space, and Han begins the journey that will one day launch a decades-long argument that no Star Wars fan will ever win: Who shot first?

Join us Radical Ones as we revisit the origin of everyone’s favorite scruffy-looking nerf herder in a fun, action-packed adventure filled with smugglers, scoundrels, daring heists, and enough capes to fill an entire cargo hold.

“Solo: A Star Wars Story follows a young Han Solo as he embarks on a series of dangerous adventures in the galaxy’s criminal underworld, meeting Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and acquiring the Millennium Falcon along the way. Blending space Western flair with heists and character origins, it offers eye-catching visuals, fun action, and world-building that will appeal to Star Wars fans and newcomers alike—though some find its pacing uneven and story predictable.”

Stars: Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandiwe Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, and Paul Bettany.

  • Episode 186 : "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith" (2005)

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡️

STAR WARS SUMMER continues as Ryan and David arrive at the explosive finale of George Lucas’ prequel trilogy with "STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH" from 2005!

What starts as an exciting rescue mission quickly spirals into galactic tragedy as Chancellor Palpatine spends two hours telling Anakin Skywalker to make increasingly terrible life choices, Obi-Wan Kenobi desperately tries to keep the entire Jedi Order functioning by himself, and R2-D2 once again proves he is the most competent character in the franchise.

Meanwhile, Anakin discovers that trying to prevent the future is a lot like a cursed genie wish, Palpatine screams about unlimited power, Luke and Leia become victims of the galaxy’s strangest Parent Trap arrangement! Along the way, we discuss Jedi hair evolution, General Grievous’ legendary cough, Yoda taking on the most dangerous Sith Lord in the galaxy, Chewbacca casually revealing he knew Yoda all along, and the famous Darth Vader “NOOOOOOO!” heard across the stars.

Join the Radical Ones as we witness the fall of the Republic, the rise of Darth Vader, and the end of the prequel era in one of the most emotional, meme-able, and endlessly quotable Star Wars adventures ever made.

“Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith takes place as the Clone Wars near their climax, following Obi-Wan Kenobi’s pursuit of a Separatist threat while Anakin Skywalker is drawn into a dangerous alliance with Chancellor Palpatine. This decisive chapter reveals the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire, blending grand space battles, intense duels, and moral conflict. Praised for its darker tone, emotional weight, and spectacular visuals, it’s considered the strongest entry in the prequel trilogy.”

Stars: Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Lee, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, and Frank Oz.

  • Episode 185: "Star Wars Episode II- Attack of the Clones" (2002)

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡️

STAR WARS SUMMER continues as Ryan and David are joined by friend and guest cohost Zack… making his first non-ThunderCats appearance on the show to revisit what was once HIS favorite film of the prequel trilogy… “STAR WARS EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES!” (From 2002)

Yes this movie somehow feels like a detective story, soap opera, romance movie, and giant video game all at the same time. And was Obi-Wan secretly the real star of the entire prequel trilogy? From an explosion powerful enough to blow Padmé’s decoy’s shoes completely off, to floating space pears, awkward romance, Jar Jar Binks somehow getting promoted to politics, and the MANY red flags Anakin Skywalker was giving off long before becoming Darth Vader… this episode is extra long for our Star Wars fans!

Grab your lightsaber, avoid the death sticks, and join us as our journey through every STAR WARS movie and beyond continues all summer long!

“Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones takes place a decade after The Phantom Menace, with the galaxy on the brink of civil war. Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi investigates an assassination attempt while his apprentice Anakin Skywalker protects Senator Padmé Amidala, sparking a deepening connection. With rich visuals, expansive world-building, and pivotal moments in the saga, it offers thrilling action but is sometimes critiqued for stiff dialogue and uneven pacing.”

Stars: Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor and Christopher Lee.

  • Episode 184: "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" (1999)

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡️

This week on Radical Retro Rewind?!, Ryan and David officially kick off Star Wars Summer with one of the most anticipated movies of all time…“Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace” from 1999!

After 16 years without a new live-action Star Wars film, the hype surrounding Episode I was absolutely unreal. From Pepsi cups and Taco Bell promotions to packed toy aisles, VHS previews, posters everywhere, green fruit snacks, and even Jar Jar tongue lollipops, this movie became a full-blown cultural event before it even hit theaters.

From podracing and Darth Maul’s double lightsaber to Duel of the Fates, Queen Amidala’s insane costumes, and early CGI spectacle, the Radical Retro Brothers revisit the movie that changed blockbuster filmmaking forever. And yes… we absolutely discuss whether the podrace still holds up, that R2-D2 has always been sassy, and the bizarre behind-the-scenes fact that Michael Jackson reportedly wanted to physically play Jar Jar Binks in full costume rather than through CGI.

“In Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi are sent to settle a growing conflict involving the Trade Federation and the peaceful planet of Naboo. Along the way they encounter a clumsy outcast named Jar Jar Binks, a young queen hiding in plain sight, and a gifted slave boy named Anakin Skywalker whose connection to the Force may change the fate of the galaxy forever. As political tensions rise and a mysterious Sith warrior named Darth Maul emerges from the shadows, the stage is set for a new generation of Star Wars adventures.”

Stars: Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd, Ahmed Best & Ray Park.
