Miami beat Central Michigan 52-3, and for a good chunk of the night the refs were somehow the bigger story. Ro, Toast and Jenners (filling in for Scoop) get into a game with roughly 30 penalties, 12 of them in the fourth quarter alone, and why all those false starts and holds have them a little nervous about a prime time trip to Death Valley.

The good stuff still won out. Miami ran for 201 yards to CMU's 21, outgained them 572 to 158 and went 7 for 7 in the red zone. Four games in, the Canes have the No. 1 run defense in the country at 39.5 yards a game, and that's without Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor. We also get into Damon Wilson II getting robbed of a sack and a scoop-and-score, Malachi Toney's run of 100-yard games, Cooper Barkate's scramble-drill touchdown, and Darian Mensah becoming the first player in FBS history with more touchdown passes (14) than incompletions (12) through four games.

Then Vegas posted the Clemson line and the room lost it. Miami opened as a 17.5-point road favorite, it ticked up to 18.5 on DraftKings while we were recording, and nobody at the table knows what to do with that.

Miami is 3-0, leads the country in total offense at 702 yards a game, and went down a spot in the AP poll anyway. Ro, Jenners, Scoop and Toast try to make sense of the drop to No. 6, and most of it comes back to one bad half against Wake Forest. Darian Mensah has 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions, the run defense is holding teams to 45.7 yards a game, and the voters slid Ole Miss ahead of the Canes the minute that game-sealing interception photo hit the internet.

From there it's film talk. The secondary is missing its top three corners, so who holds it down now? Wake Forest stunted Miami's interior line all night, and the young guards took their lumps. Scoop has a pretty simple fix: kick Cantwell back outside to tackle and slide McCoy inside to guard. The general feeling in the room is that Wake did Miami a favor by exposing all of this in a double-digit win.

Also this week, Mario Cristobal's not-quite-a-complaint about Miami being the only team in the country that hasn't played on a Saturday, a surprisingly heated argument over whether penguins have teeth, and Adidas dropping a 2001 tribute video the same week Miami announced it's going back to Nike. Great video. Still a breakup.

Then it's Central Michigan week. The Chippewas are 2-1, Angel Flores leads every quarterback in the country with 312 rushing yards, and they've got the best pass defense in the MAC. The guys set over/unders for Mensah, Mark Fletcher Jr., Jordan Lyle and Flores, give their keys to the game, and take a detour through NC State's end zone disaster and Jimbo Fisher's ACC Network audition. Picks close it out with Texas at Tennessee, Ole Miss at Florida, Oregon at USC and the big question: is anybody taking the Canes to cover 41 and a half? Nobody is.

Miami went to Wake Forest on a Friday night and came home with a 33-20 win. The scoreboard looks fine. The injury report and the second half don’t.

Ro, Jenners, Scoop and Toast do the recap Saturday morning. The Canes looked historic for 30 minutes and mortal for the next 30, with a pile of three-and-outs and a lot of bubble screens that went nowhere. The defense is the reason this stayed a win. Corey Heatherman sent a safety at Gio Lopez on nearly every snap in the fourth quarter, and Wake Forest finished with 22 rushing yards.

The guys go through who’s hurt (Malachi Toney, Mark Fletcher, a thin secondary, and at least one player who may be done for the year), whether the offense really falls apart without them, and why Shannon Dawson keeps disappearing for entire halves. There’s also a real-talk monologue aimed at Dawson, an argument over Mario Cristobal sending the kicker out for a 54-yarder, a rant about a broadcast that seemed to have one camera, and a hard look at an offensive line that isn’t last year’s group yet.

Darian Mensah still had a big night, but he missed a few he doesn’t usually miss, and the guys talk about why teams will keep coming after him with the blitz. Central Michigan is next, then Clemson.

Josh Pray pulls up on the show fresh off a Florida win to talk trash, and Ro, Scoop and Toast let him have it right back — Nike money, Chris Leak's arm, the Swamp, all of it. Miami's home opener spread against Florida A&M is up near 56 and a half, and Ro, Scoop, Toast, and Jenners open the show wondering if that's even a real point spread or just a weather advisory. Miami opens the season on the road, and the guys break down every angle of Friday night's trip to Stanford before the picks come in. Ro, Scoop and Toast get into the number seven Hurricanes laying 24 and a half against a Cardinal team missing four cornerbacks and a chunk of their starting front, plus what Stanford's surprisingly efficient outing against Hawaii actually means heading into this one.

From there it's a full breakdown of the Miami offensive line battle up front, where last year's starters are gone and two true freshman guards could see the field together for the first time. Darian Mensah gets the Heisman-watch treatment, with Josh Pate's early top-10 quarterback rankings sparking some pushback, and the crew lays out why Shannon Dawson's scheme is finally built for a guy who can push the ball downfield.

It's the last show of the offseason and Ro, Scoop and Toast run back the Nick Saban and Mario Cristobal audio that dropped the same day last week, then get into whether the ACC has enough teams built to actually go toe-to-toe with the SEC. The take: Mario might be part of the problem, since Miami is currently sitting on eight of the ACC's top 10 recruits and starving the rest of the conference.

Ro's off in the Keys chasing lobster, so it's Jenners, Scoop, and Toast holding down the show three days before Miami's 2026 fall camp officially opens. The guys get into whether last year's back-half surge was a real foundational shift for this program or just a hot streak that happened to end at the right time — breaking down the offensive line, a running back room that's the same faces with a different mentality, and a wide receiver group they think is one of the deepest in the country.

From there it's a full defensive line check-in (Lightfoot, Damon Wilson, Blount, Hayden Lowe) before the crew gets into Todd McShay's praise for five-star quarterback commit Darian Mensah and what a locked-in QB1 means for how Miami spends money everywhere else on the roster. They also run through PFF's early returning ACC quarterback rankings and argue about who's missing from the list.

Outside of Coral Gables, the guys break down North Carolina showing GM Michael Lombardi the door before Labor Day, then play a game guessing how long Bill Belichick survives the season given his record without Tom Brady. FSU fans get a bonus storyline too — Tom Herman reportedly signed on as an hourly staffer making $25 an hour while still owed millions from his LSU buyout.

Instead of tampering, tired narratives or big game anticipation... we're talking about gender confusion, old lady asses, sewer people and vacuum cleaner sex... welcome to OBB Benched!

The guys start off arguing about a couple of new streaming shows — a prison-break thriller called I Will Find You and a little-people dating show on HBO Max that spirals into a full debate over Peter Dinklage and the Snow White remake. From there it's Mike Tyson at the ESPYs not knowing who Shohei Ohtani is, which somehow becomes the highlight of the whole segment.

Then it's two Florida stories back to back — a 77-year-old woman with an extremely unfortunate randomized license plate, and a Central Florida man who made the news for what he was doing with a vacuum cleaner in broad daylight. In between, there's a real, honest-to-God mystery about groups of people sneaking into the New York City sewer system at night that nobody can quite explain.

The back half is Five Questions: the coolest last name anyone's ever heard, the greatest uniform in sports history, a decision made in under five seconds that changed somebody's life, the word that instantly ruins a sentence, and the one animal that's a flat-out 10 out of 10 masterpiece. Kangaroo, horse, and tiger all get their case made. As always, a handful of new show-title finalists get floated along the way.

Big news out of the Roman household before the football even starts tonight — Tali is officially headed to Loyola Marymount to play beach volleyball, and Ro takes you through the whole recruiting journey, including the moment she almost talked herself out of leaving Miami. From there it's straight into ACC Media Week, where Darian Mensah explains why he left Duke for the freedom of Shannon Dawson's offense, and the crew breaks down the money situation that pushed him out of that Duke locker room in the first place. Manny Diaz gets his say on the tampering questions that followed Mensah to Coral Gables, and Pat Narduzzi gets absolutely nothing but grief for it.

From there the running back room conversation takes over — is this current Miami group the best the program has ever had, and how does it stack up against the Gore-Portis-McGahee era? Ro tells the story of the very first recruiting tape he ever watched, thirty years ago, and who was on it. Then the real outrage of the week: Malachi Toney getting left off the ACC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year ballot entirely, while Darian Mensah gets the nod for Miami. The guys argue about whether the one-player-per-team rule makes any sense at all.

Second half of the show goes fully off the rails — a countdown to kickoff on the whiteboard at home, a look ahead at what might be the best Saturday of college football all year on November 7th, some FSU bulletin board material that gets an immediate response, and a tangent about a certain senator's whereabouts that somehow ends with a full breakdown of tortoise lifespans, geography, and mating habits. And yes, they finally land on a name for the show, after floating about six different options in the last ten minutes.
