The way we look at things are changing. For a very long time, schools in the UK have focused on the trauma of black history - I also did this. I spoke to different educators who are looking to support a change in culture in how we celebrate black heritage and culture, not just in October but all year round.

Dina Nayeri is a former refugee and author of The Waiting Place and The Ungrateful Refugee.

Dina shared her personal story of being displaced and what it was like finding a new life for herself in the US and UK.
