    Kendra was called to be a prayer warrior when her sons were toddlers; that began a lifelong journey of learning how to pray.

    She was introduced to Moms in Prayer when her sons were in 1st and 2nd grades and she has participated in a Moms in Prayer group every year since. She now prays for her adult children in a career group and has the joy of praying in a Grandmas in Prayer group. Kendra serves as the Southwest Division Coordinator for Moms in Prayer.

    Kendra and her husband reside in Oklahoma. They have two adult sons, 2 wonderful daughters-in-love, and two precious grandchildren. Kendra enjoys playing the harp, taking walks with her husband, and playing and praying with and for her grandchildren!

    One of her favorite verses is Psalm 5:3 “In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”

    Shellie Rushing Tomlinson is a farmer's wife and totally besotted grandmother of half a dozen beautiful grandchildren she fondly calls The Super Six. She fell in love with storytelling as a child when her paternal grandmother regaled her with stories of what it was like to come to Louisiana from the hills of Appalachia and set up house in a tent with a dirt floor. On the other side of the family tree, her maternal grandfather, a people-loving preacher, was known for using humor to draw his listeners to Jesus. It's safe to say the two of them marked her.     Sally Burke’s introduction to the ministry in 1990 was life changing. Compelled by joy and the hope God gave as she prayed with others for her children and their schools, Sally began to reach out and share with other moms—first as a Moms in Prayer group leader, then area coordinator for her hometown, and later as regional coordinator. In 2008, Sally became the Director of Field Ministry at Moms in Prayer headquarters, overseeing ministry expansion worldwide. Today, in her role as President of Moms in Prayer International, her vision remains unchanged, that more children and schools and moms might experience God’s life-changing answers to prayer. Sally is also an international speaker, teacher and author of Raise Them Up, Start with Praise, Unshaken and the Unshaken Study Guide.

    As a child growing up in Florida, Sally was fascinated with the space program and began her career as a space shuttle engineer with a Master of Science in Management. After her marriage and the birth of two children, Sally and her husband came to faith in Christ, and Moms in Prayer soon became a top priority. She and husband, Ed, now have four grown children, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law and four grandchildren.     Fern Nichols is a former elementary school teacher and the founder of Moms in Prayer International, a prayer movement that mobilizes women around the world to gather together to pray for their children and schools. In 1984, Fern was fearful about sending her two eldest children off to junior high. She knew the school would be a battlefield for their hearts and minds. She realized the warfare would be intense and to fight in this battle she needed to invite other moms to pray. She called a mom and asked her to pray with her for their children and school. Her response was an immediate “yes,” and that was the humble beginning of Moms in Prayer that now spans the USA in every state and is in more than 150 countries. Fern has traveled to almost every continent in the world speaking, teaching and training women how to pray effectively. She and her husband Rle have been married for over 50 years. They were involved with Campus Crusade for Christ (now CRU) for 15 years. They have four children and 10 grandchildren.

For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.     Moms in Prayer has changed Jennifer’s life and impacted the lives of her children in amazing ways. She grew up with a praying grandma and recognized the blessing of that. She wanted something similar for her kids. In 2015, a precious tourist visiting Valdez left a Moms in Prayer Booklet with her. That started an incredible adventure. Jennifer read the Booklet and started a group that fall.

    Through the four steps of prayer, Moms in Prayer has taught her to focus on God and His character instead of whatever problem is presenting itself. She wants every mom to know the peace of entrusting their kids to God through prayer. Sometimes she doesn’t know what to pray. Praying scripture has released her from that. May this passage encourage you from Isaiah 55:10-11, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

     When Gideon came, behold, a man was telling a dream to his comrade.     The Lord said to Gideon, “The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return home and hurry away from Mount Gilead.’” Then 22,000 of the people returned, and 10,000 remained.

    And the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many. Take them down to the water, and I will test them for you there, and anyone of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ shall go with you, and anyone of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ shall not go.” So he brought the people down to the water. And the Lord said to Gideon, “Every one who laps the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set by himself. Likewise, every one who kneels down to drink.” And the number of those who lapped, putting their hands to their mouths, was 300 men, but all the rest of the people knelt down to drink water.     Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7 ESV

    Do you not know?

        Have you not heard?

    The Lord is the everlasting God,

        the Creator of the ends of the earth.

    He will not grow tired or weary,

        and his understanding no one can fathom.

    He gives strength to the weary

        and increases the power of the weak.

    Even youths grow tired and weary,

        and young men stumble and fall;

    but those who hope in the Lord

        will renew their strength.

    I remember my affliction and my wandering,

    For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans 15:4 NIV

Heidi helps us see life with all its difficulties in proper perspective—through the eyes of God. He is the Good Shepherd and you lack nothing.

    Learning to hold her kids loosely and trust God with them is a daily challenge which Heidi found to be especially true when her boys were just beginning school. It was during this time of trying to “let go” a bit that she found Moms in Prayer after hearing Moms in Prayer Founder, Fern Nichols, on the radio.

    The Lord encouraged her to start a Moms in Prayer group at her sons’ school in 2003. She prayed with this group of moms for 17 years. They joined her in covering her boys, their kids and their school community. They lifted their requests to God and saw Him do immeasurably more than they could ask or imagine as He walked with them through a son’s illness, Young Life established at the school, and students’ hearts turned to Christ. Heidi has come to know the Lord in an amazingly intimate way as He has shown her His love for her boys and that He truly can be trusted above all else.

    She has been married to Mark, who has filled her days with laughter since 1990. They have three boys in their twenties and two amazing daughters-in-law! After growing up in Minnesota and spending a few years in St. Louis, they have fallen in love with North Carolina. Heidi is looking forward to watching God work as He draws other moms to experience His power, grace and loving acceptance through prayer!

    SCRIPTURES

     if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 ESV

     The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 10:10-11 ESV

    He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. Isaiah 40:11 ESV

    The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

    He makes me lie down in green pastures.

    He leads me beside still waters.

    He restores my soul.

    He leads me in paths of righteousness

    for his name’s sake.

    Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

    your rod and your staff,

    I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:16-19

    He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 ESV
