Venice Tripletail and a 100-Pound Cubera Snapper
Welcome to this week’s Louisiana Delta Fishing Report, covering New Orleans, Venice, Hopedale/Delacroix, Grand Isle, and everywhere in between. Host Andre’ Savoie talks with Capt. Paul Miller about Venice tripletail fishing and Chris Vecsey about targeting rare deepwater species from Port Fourchon.
Capt. Paul Miller explains why Venice’s mix of river water, deep Gulf water, rigs, and floating structure creates excellent tripletail habitat. He discusses recent tripletail over 30 pounds, improving cobia action, solid red snapper fishing, and the heavy tackle needed to stop large fish around structure.
Chris Vecsey recaps a Port Fourchon trip that produced queen snapper, grouper, and two cubera snapper, including a 100-pound-class fish. He explains the patience and heavy gear required for these powerful fish and how both cubera snapper were safely released with a descending device.
