  • Are Bad Habits About Psychology OR a Broken Brain? With Paul Taylor, Ph.D. | EP 341

Are you curious about how to become more resilient? Or maybe, create stronger, more resilient kids? In this episode we delve into the harsh realities of modern life and how everyone is too “cushy” and how it's detrimental to our physical and mental well-being, and we also explore strategies for creating lasting change.

    Here are the key takeaways:

    • Misguided approaches to self-esteem: Overemphasis on self-esteem without acknowledging the challenges of reality can lead to problems later in life.
    • Diet and mental health: relationship between food consumption and increased anxiety and mental health disorders.
    • Lack of resilience: Modern life with its constant stimulants and focus on instant gratification can hinder the development of resilience.
    • Sleep disruption: Insufficient sleep negatively affects food choices, exercise habits, and overall mental health.
    • Reduced physical activity: Decreased incidental movement due to technology and our work environments weakens our physical and mental well-being.
    • The importance of exercise: Regular physical activity is crucial for combating chronic diseases and improving mental health.
    • Prioritizing natural solutions: Focusing on a healthy lifestyle with good food, quality sleep, social connections, and movement is far more effective than relying solely on medication.
    • The negative impact of antidepressants and the over-prescription within the pharmaceutical industry.
    • The concept of "self-control" as a crucial factor for success and how a sedentary lifestyle can diminish it.
    • The potential dangers of unregulated longevity supplements and the importance of scientific research.

  • Why Don’t I Stick To The Rules of My Diet? | CWM EP 336

Do you unconsciously sabotage your own health goals? In this episode, Matty examines why we often rebel against diet rules and how it relates back to our inner child that wants to resist external control and oppression.

This is what we covered in this episode:

    • Diet rules come from an authoritative perspective which can trigger rebellion in our inner child.
    • We want to rebel against external control and exert our own agency - this often plays out through food choices.

  • Social Media & Health: Why You Should Unfollow Your Favourite Influencers | CWM EP 332

Feeling stuck in your wellness journey? Curious about how social media might be impacting your health goals? This episode dives deep into the surprising influence of online "tribes" and how curated feeds can sabotage your progress.

    On this episode we cover:

    • Social media personas are just that - personas. Don't compare your reality to carefully crafted highlight reels.
    • Unrealistic inspiration can breed negativity. Following extremes on the "health spectrum" can lead to discouragement and self-doubt.
    • Curate your "tribe" consciously. Surround yourself with individuals who inspire and uplift you, not trigger shame or inadequacy.
    • Regularly audit your follows. Ask yourself if each account fuels your journey or hinders it. Unfollow without guilt!

Actionable Tip: Take 5 minutes today to audit your social media follows. Unfollow accounts that leave you feeling drained or inadequate, and prioritize those who offer genuine inspiration and support your health goals.

Remember: You are unique! Embrace your own journey and find inspiration that empowers you to be your best self.

  • Is Testosterone Therapy Going To Help Men with Mental Health? with Tomo Marjanovic | EP 331

Do you or your male partner have low motivation? Is every day a grind and a struggle? Is sexual stimulation difficult with a human but you seem to be able to figure it out when you watch porn? There is a lot about the modern world that has messed men up and low testosterone is one of them. It creeps in, so subtly over many years and then we blame it on psychological and mental health challenges (which may also be present) but it appears that many men find their mojo for life in all aspects when they fix their hormones. We need men to reclaim their health and masculinity for the sake of their partners, wives, kids and society moving forward. If we have one entire gender falling apart, things aren’t looking good for the future so let’s turn it around.

    On this episode we discussed:

    • What the pharmaceutical industry is doing to the world
    • Where do we begin taking responsibility for our health
    • Some Arnold Shwarznegger advice
    • What lowers testosterone
    • Is it wrong to artificially boost your testosterone
    • Which type of workouts boost testosterone
    • How long do you need to be on hormonal/testosterone therapy
    • Porn consumption and dopamine addiction
    • The death grip - not being able to enjoy sex with a human
    • The no fap movement
    • Why you should be collecting your own data and not relying on the doctor

  • How Loneliness Can Destroy Your Gut Health with Dr. Monisha Bhanote | EP 329

We hear that 90% of the immune system lives in the gut - but what happens if your diet destroys that gut? Does it then destroy the immune system? It’s a worthwhile question to ask and with all of the chemicals in our house, our car, our water and our food, it’s never been more important to get ahead of the problems, fix your gut and make a goal of dying quietly in your sleep at a really old age (instead of dying slowly for 30 years full of medication). Gut health and diets that improve diversity is the theme of this episode.

    In this episode we discussed:

    • How the real pandemic is loneliness
    • The sad truth about western culture and how we treat our elderly
    • Nursing homes and the ‘waiting to die phase’
    • How your cells end up being angry-cells
    • The microbiome diversity or lack of diversity that leads to inflammation
    • The neurotransmitters that are produced in the gut
    • Health and wellness people look younger than everyone else
    • Good food is nature’s skincare
    • How the hormone hierarchy in your body can be ruined by your diet
    • Fermented food - which foods to eat to heal your gut

Is this documentary propaganda or good science? You Are What You Eat is Netflix’s latest series about how plant based and vegan diets are superior to the natural human diet, that being omnivore - plants and meat. There is a lot of controversial stuff in the TV series and throughout this episode I’ll show you how to see the forest for the trees as much of the poor data is in fact presented right there on screen but it’s packaged in a way that makes you think it’s all fine and dandy. There’s a lot to consider here and so I want you to listen to this episode with a critical mind and understand that everyone has an agenda.. Or at least those that have enough resources to get something on Netflix do.

On this episode we talked about:

    • Why the length of a study matters
    • The difference between good science and bad science
    • The importance of vitamin B12 to vegans
    • Why branding farmers as all the same is a bad idea
    • Identifying vegan/plant based propaganda
    • Vegan diets also lead to copious amounts of animal death
    • The good things about publicly discussing diet
    • Knowing who is funding the studies and who is owned by who
    • Is vegan a complete, natural diet?
    • How biased filming making is misleading the western world
    • Why fake meat is NOT a health food
    • Farmers are not always in control of their own farms (Big Ag owns them)
    • Bacterial resistance in cattle
    • Veganism is not going to save the Amazon rainforest
    • How many animals die when you harvest avocados
    • How to see bad science
