The "Ghost Corps" old-time radio show was a mystery/horror program that aired in the 1930s. It stands apart from the modern Ghost Corps production company associated with the Ghostbusters franchise.
Here's what we know about the old-time radio show:
- Premise: The show centered around a character named K.C. Smith, a man trained to deal with "fiends" (likely referring to criminals or supernatural threats) in the Middle East. He operated as part of the "Ghost Corps," a mysterious, shrouded organization of freelance diplomats working throughout the Near and Far East.
- Plot Device: K.C. Smith was fluent in Eastern dialects and customs and often disguised himself in local garb to move unnoticed and gather information on illegal activities and local warlords. He would do whatever was necessary to bring these individuals down in the name of the Ghost Corps.
- Genre: It was primarily a mystery and horror show, fitting into the popular genres of old-time radio that often explored the unknown, the exotic, and the thrilling.
- Episodes: Collections of the show typically contain around 26 episodes, with a total playtime of approximately 5 hours and 47 minutes. Some episode titles include "Knives of El Malek" and "Prayer Rug of Nana Sieb," often broken into multiple parts.
It's a fascinating example of how radio dramas of the era transported listeners to far-off lands and plunged them into mysterious and thrilling narratives.
