This compilation from July 2006 is probably the most enjoyable set I've ever pieced together. On a now defunct 'Garage Forum' someone came up with the great idea of making a garage comp from their 45s bought between April - June 2006.

Those who entered the task had three months to come up with a decent set of records to compile but no one could spend more than $300. This was quite a stiff budget but it meant looking around and finding good deals and cheap 45s.

From memory I think I was just within budget, spending about $290 on the records on this comp. I chose to call my set $300 Fine which is obviously a nod to The Litter LP titled $100 Fine. Just my way of sticking with the garage theme. I also used a rather cool picture of The Wailers from 1966 to adorn my sleeve.

Here's another one of my label retrospectives, this time on Valiant Records, an independent record label from Los Angeles. They released many interesting 45s between 1965 - 1967 with the 60s garage, folk-rock, sunshine pop and psychedelic sound...

This one was in the creative process for at least two years, that's how long it took me to track down 45s I wanted to use. I have a high quality control. (put together May 2013) This is Part 2

During the Summer of 2012 I decided to collect as many records by Milan a.k.a. The Leather Boy as I could find. I already had a fair number in my collection but decided to concentrate my efforts on the songs he wrote for other groups.

It took me about four months to track down obscure 45s by The Chanters, The Doughboys, The Unclaimed, Ice Cream and The Downtown Collection. I also added a few released as World Of Milan. More items from Milan have surfaced since I pieced this together! Track #01 by The American Beetles is faulty, although the CDR plays in my CD player without problems my PC was reluctant to have anything to do with it.

My idea behind "Action Paintings" a.k.a. 'Meanwhile, back at the Cromwellian Club' was that I was an imaginary DJ at mod hang-out 'The Cromwellian' in London during the late 60s. This was a mix I played the freaks while they were doing whatever they cared. Was meant to be a long-running series but I only lasted one gig.

This was one of my first attempts to piece together a label collection not considered by the re-issue company's before. There are several worthy HBR discs out there, these are the 45s I collected over time. The 13th Floor Elevators single would have been here if I was able to track a copy down.
