103. Presenting Lorelai Gilmore… and Jackie!
Rory Gilmore’s debutante ball was 25 years ago this week! Airing on November 6, 2001, “Presenting Lorelai Gilmore” gave fans something we never thought we’d see - Rory on her father’s arm at a Daughters of the Daughters of the American Revolution cotillion. But it’s not all smiles and fan dances, people. Rory’s agreement to “come out” to society has deeper meaning, and exposes some harsh truths for Richard, Emily, Lorelai, and even Christopher.
Today we dig into the world of debutante balls and our personal connection to them. You might be surprised to hear that one of us looked like a cute cotton ball once upon a time. Put on those white gloves and join us!
