The Sisters in Crime Writers' podcast features conversations with our members about the writing journey: their process, what they've learned, what they wish they'd know sooner. For 40 years we've supported our members with classes, workshops, webinars, and community. We're also an advocacy organization for all crime writers. No matter where a writer is on their journey, SinC is an organization where writers belong. Heather Haven wound up in Manhattan for a time. There she wrote ad copy and commercials for No Soap Radio during the day while working the Broadway theater in the Wardrobe Department at night. In those youthful days of holding down two jobs, she also wrote comedy acts and had one-act plays produced at the famed Playwrights Horizon. Once, she even ghostwrote a book on how to run an employment agency. She learned more about that business than she ever cared to know. She is the award-winning author of The Alvarez Family Murder Mysteries, Persephone Cole Vintage Mysteries, and several standalones. Her proudest award, however, is for Murder under the Big Top, winner of the Silver IPPY Best Mystery/thriller. She is the author of the Food Truck Mysteries, including A Murder Most Fowl and Hot Wings and Homicide. Her series has been praised by Kirkus Reviews, which called her debut “a serious set of crimes leavened by plenty of amusing moments,” and by Library Journal, which noted that Hot Wings and Homicide “is perfect for foodies,” and New York Times bestselling author Ellery Adams described the books as “the perfect escapist read, brimming with banter and an extra helping of fun.” Carmela has also been featured in CrimeReads Magazine.A lover of humor, quirky characters, and all things geeky, Carmela spends her days sketching, sipping far too much coffee, and over-cuddling her allergy-inducing cats and dog. She lives with her husband and two dinosaur-obsessed sons, drawing inspiration from rainy afternoons, bustling farmers’ markets, and the unexpected moments that make life memorable. Website: carmeladutra.comFacebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/authorcarmeladutraInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/authorcarmelaThreads Handle: http://www.threads.com/authorcarmelaLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/carmeladutra*****************
About SinC
Sisters in Crime (SinC) was founded in 1986 to promote the ongoing advancement, recognition and professional development of women crime writers.
