• Mapping a Leadership Strategy Using Smart Assessments for Insight-Building

How can your personal self-awareness help your career and performance success? How do I hone this? Our guest Nancy Parsons will share her insights on this question along with assessment and data-based ideas for mapping a strategy for effective development.

Deep self-awareness is critical to mapping an effective strategy for development and performance improvement.  Research shows that leaders tend to lack the clarity and personal objectivity needed to recognize, build upon, or leverage their inherent character talent, gifts and acumen; while understanding, managing and neutralizing their risks and short sides. This means that leaders spend a lot of time trying to develop the wrong things or have difficulty honing in on what matters most. In fact, an HBR study (Eurich, 2018) of 5000 participants found that while most people think of themselves as self-aware, only 10 to 15% actually are!  Nancy Parsons will share insights and stories of how accurate self-awareness leads to breakthrough success and fulfillment.

Nancy Parsons is one of today’s foremost experts in combining the science of assessments with the art of developing people. She co-founded CDR Companies, LLC and developed the break-through CDR 3-Dimensional Assessment Suite® an in-depth coaching tool used by global clients. The Suite measures:  character traits, inherent risk factors for derailment, and drivers and rewards.  In 2020, Nancy and her team launched CDR-U Coach, the first of its kind digital avatar coach providing individualized feedback and development for all employees. In 2022, CDR-U Coach was awarded the international Gold Star Winner of the “Best New Product” by the Stevie Awards for Women in Business. This is a scalable solution to assessment and coaching that can reach all levels of employees. Nancy was awarded the prestigious MEECO International Thought Leadership of Distinction in Executive Coaching in 2019 which only a select few have received such as Marshall Goldsmith and Jim Kouzes.

  • Who Drives Your Leadership Identity?

    Who Drives Your Leadership Identity?

How do expectations, relationships, and changes in identity related to how leaders are perceived and how they might develop their personal and personal brand? What if the brand we intend as leaders is damaged or needs to be intentionally transformed to meet the needs of customers? We talk with a lawyer who has a passion for intellectual property to get a unique perspective on this.

We hear about branding and intellectual property protection as methods to developing and protecting our work and reputation. But we don't often think about how they connect to a leadership identity or transform us and others.

Matthew Asbell is a Renaissance lawyer with a background in information technology, entertainment and medicine, a love for global culture, and a passion for his work in intellectual property. His personal and professional interests arise from a deep appreciation for creativity, whether in the form of invention, design, expression or marketing. He assists clients in clearing, obtaining, enforcing and defending trademark rights in the United States and throughout the world, and advises on utility and design patents, copyrights, domain names and related areas. His work in the fields of trademark and rights of publicity gives him a different perspective on the concepts of identity, reputation, and branding.

  • How to Build Bridges in a Polarized World

Learn to build bridges within your communities, families, and workplaces in which polarization might otherwise result in division. This is a new way to think about the alignment of inner change and social change. You will be invited to recognize that empathetic and emotionally intelligent leaders have first built bridges in their inner worlds. We will explore example of leaders who show up in wholeness, revealing how they build the capacity to celebrate societies polarizing forces as dialectical challenges and optimize the fertility of diverse ecosystems with centeredness and connection.

How can storytelling, authentic relating, and inductive growth-work help leaders and teams use polarities as a strategy to unleash unrivaled creative advantages? How do we subconsciously conform in ways that inhibit leadership capacity? In relationships and leadership styles, our emotional intelligence, empathy, and capacity to be effective is limited by the extent to which we unconsciously allow social roles to govern our dynamics. Once we unpack these conformities, we begin to relate with our unique identity differently. This doesn’t mean we give up what makes us unique, it simply means we begin to relate with ourselves differently. This is the pathway to personal liberation that unlocks profound leadership capacities while simultaneously transforming social issues.

Gareth Gwyn is the author of the book “You Are Us: How to Build Bridges in a Polarized World.” The 13 stories in the book are from the perspective of 13 people who are radically different but are also unified by having done the work of inner reckoning with their trauma, pain, and socialized identity. Through the vulnerable illumination of each story, we learn how inner work translates into liberated leadership that serves community, workplace, and ultimately societal transformation. She is the founder of Let’s See Labs, a think tank that is the leading advocate for the radical notion that polarity is a creative engine in organizations. This work recognizes that our differences in identity are highly compatible, and can be a source of connection rather than conflict.
