-We mentioned this week that Matt Rhule checked in at No. 29 on the countdown; yesterday, CBS announced their top 25
-Kirby Smart was not surprisingly first on the list; who else surprised? Steve Sarkisian at No.5 (ahead of Kyle Whittingham), Lance Leipold at No. 12 (followed by Chris Klieman), Marcus Freeman at No. 24…
-Matt Campbell checks in at No. 25….Luke Fickell/Kirk Ferentz back-to-back at 17th and 18th

-The Giants have very low sizzle nowadays, even though they won a playoff game 2 years ago in a surprise team. Last year, they stunk, and had few players anyone knows…who would want to watch this?
-Also, The NFL announced yesterday that both Christmas Day games will be carried on NetFlix, the first time the service has carried NFL games. At least most shouldn’t have to find a way to get it…one positive

Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy10m - May 16, 2024 - The NFL schedule is out…could college football ever have anything like it of the same magnitude?
-About 10-15 years ago, no one really cared that much about the schedule release; there certainly weren’t 2 hour programs on network TV to cover it like there is now (NFL Network/ESPN)
-College football doesn’t really do anything big like it, mainly because some games are known years ahead of time (non-conference)…so maybe they have no chance of attaining the attention the NFL gets
-Also, welcome to Day 1 of the PGA Championship—the often forgotten major. Tiger is playing, though!

-Long-known hot take maker Doug Gottlieb will be the next head coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay in men’s basketball, sources announced yesterday
-The twist here is that Gottlieb will continue doing his daily FOX Sports Radio Show (2-5pm CST, M-F). It would be strange for Bill to be doing our show if he was still coaching at Nebraska or elsewhere—but it would be cool---but as a head coach? Bizarre…right?
-Imagine if Bo Pelini back in the day was doing a 3-hour daily radio show and was the head coach of the football team….ratings gold!

-Nebraska/Colorado is officially a night game (6:30pm, NBC, Sept. 7)…will the lead-up to that rival the 2014 Miami game?
-David Sanders Jr., the No. 1 OT in the country (out of Charlotte, NC), visited Lincoln this past weekend and said he had a great experience…do you believe Nebraska can start landing 5-star players again?
-CBS Sports ranks Matt Rhule as the 29th best coach in the country…if he puts together a 9+ win season, how much does he elevate up those lists?

Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy13m - May 15, 2024 - Where does Matt Rhule stack up amongst his peers as college football head coaches? 29th according to one outlet
-CBS Sports—the apparent kings of the offseason---are at it again, ranking the best coaches in college football. They start with 26-68, and will save the Top 25 for today.
-Husker fans won’t have to wait that long, as Matt Rhule shows up at 29th in the rankings, down 2 spots from where he was at last year. He’s behind the likes of Willie Fritz (Houston), and Jonathan Smith (Michigan State); but ahead of Jedd Fisch, Mario Cristobal, Brent Venables and a few other big names..
-Also, welcome to NFL Schedule release day…something that no one could have ever predicted to be a big deal 10+ years ago. Jake is already pissed about a game announced for the Dolphins…

-That’s the title of a new article out by Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger, who points out that a proposed new model has power conference leaders considering reducing rosters from 115+, down to 85-95 players
-At a place like Nebraska, that hurts---obviously proud in its tradition of walk-ons…

-Circa Sports put out their overs/unders on Sunday, and has Nebraska soundly in a bowl game with their 7.5 number; most Husker fans feel that is attainable and not unreasonable
-Other numbers in the conference: Illinois (5.5); Indiana (5.5); Iowa (7.5); Maryland (6.5); Michigan (9); Michigan St (5); Minnesota (5); Northwestern (4.5); Ohio State (10.5); Oregon (10.5); Penn State (10); Purdue (4); Rutgers (6); UCLA (5.5); USC (7.5); Washington (7); and Wisconsin (6.5)
-Might have been a good year for the B1G West to stay in place for Nebraska’s sake with the numbers listed here…same as USC!

-It’s a day and age where NIL seems most important for players than facilities---unless proven otherwise---but Nebraska’s 315,000 square foot new facility puts them inside the top 10 of CBS Sports’ list for the first time
-Oregon sits at No. 1, followed by: Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, Clemson, LSU, and Ohio State, before the Huskers enter at 8th (ahead of Auburn and South Carolina)
