OpenAI released 722 math manuscripts from a model nobody outside can use yet, many with proofs checked in Lean, about three hours of compute per result, including a proof of the Unique Games Conjecture that a complexity theorist spent her career on. The mathematicians are split: the Association for Human Mathematics wants a boycott, Erdős Problems froze proof claims, Terence Tao proposes a Math 2.0, and Ethereum researchers want crypto in bunker mode before AI math breaks the curves that guard every wallet. Plus a $1.8 billion push for a virtual cell, the White House calling anyone who still says "artificial intelligence" the enemy, OpenAI's coding agents costing as much as the researchers who run them, Anthropic banning cruelty to Claude, robots that can do 74% of physical tasks but are cheaper for 0.3% of work, and a 194-year-old tortoise with the mitochondria of a five-year-old.
