Come, Jesus Come, pt. 5 - Seals, Trumpets, and Bowls

36m | Oct 5, 2026

Passage: Revelation 6–16

The Lamb opens the seals, and the trumpets and bowls pour out God’s wrath on a world that will not repent. The preacher wants those judgments heard as real events still ahead, in the three and a half years before Jesus comes. Then he presses what that means for sin, forgiveness, and how we love people.

Key Takeaways:

  • These events are literal and still future. They are not symbols, and they are not headlines already in the news.
  • They come after the rapture, on people who have not repented and trusted Jesus.
  • The rider on the white horse is not Jesus. He conquers with a bow and no arrows, and only God could unite the world that peacefully.
  • God himself sends these judgments. They break the laws of nature so no one can mistake them for an accident, and the living would rather die than face him.
  • Some people will repent in the middle of it and be spared. Many will not, and we often do the same thing when God is clearly right.
  • Even while the bowls are being poured out, God is still leaving room to repent. He is holding out hope to the end.
  • This is why we share the gospel. That wrath is coming for everyone who will not repent and confess that Jesus is Lord, no matter how decent they seem.
  • What is fair is that all of us deserve it, because we killed the Son. He is still willing to forgive. That is the gospel.
  • The truth does not answer to our feelings. We are not God, and we do not know better than the Creator.
  • Love the Lord with all you are, and love your neighbor by telling them the truth plainly and calling them to repent. You get one life. Do not put that off.
