What if the Buffalo Bills’ biggest mistake with Josh Allen isn’t asking him to do too much — but trying to change the very things that make him special?
On this episode of The Post Podium Podcast, we explore a comparison you probably haven’t heard before: Josh Allen and Michael Vick.
No, we’re not arguing that they’re the same quarterback.
We’re asking whether their franchises have faced the same philosophical problem.
During Michael Vick’s years in Atlanta, the Falcons possessed one of the most physically unique quarterbacks football had ever seen. Yet instead of completely constructing their passing offense around what made Vick different, Atlanta often tried to develop him within a more conventional NFL structure.
Years later, are the Buffalo Bills flirting with the same mistake with Josh Allen?
We break down the personnel surrounding both quarterbacks, Atlanta’s approach to building around Vick, what changed when Vick eventually played for Andy Reid in Philadelphia, and how Buffalo’s offensive philosophy around Allen has evolved from the explosive 2020–2021 teams to today.
The question isn't whether Buffalo has given Josh Allen talent.
The question is whether they've given him the RIGHT talent for Josh Allen.
Should Buffalo be trying to make Allen more efficient, controlled and conventional?
Or should they embrace the chaos, arm strength, rushing ability and off-script playmaking that make him unlike almost any quarterback in NFL history?
Michael Vick's career might provide a warning.
Is history repeating itself in Buffalo?

Josh Allen has been one of the best playoff quarterbacks of his generation. The numbers prove it.
So why has he still never reached a Super Bowl?
On this episode of The Post Podium Podcast, we take a deeper look at Josh Allen's postseason career and compare his playoff performance to the quarterbacks who have actually won Super Bowls over the last 30 years.
What we found raises a much bigger question than whether Josh Allen is "good enough" to win a championship.
Has being Superman actually become part of the problem?
We examine Allen's playoff numbers, the performances that have eliminated Buffalo, the supporting casts surrounding Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks, and something championship quarterbacks have repeatedly received that Allen rarely has:
Margin for error.
Some Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks have survived terrible postseason performances because their defense, running game, or supporting cast carried them to another week.
Josh Allen has played brilliantly — and still gone home.
Maybe the Bills' biggest problem isn't that they need to find Josh Allen more help.
Maybe they need to build a team that doesn't always need Josh Allen to save it.
Tonight's discussion:• How Allen's playoff numbers compare to Super Bowl-winning QBs
• The surprising numbers from Allen's playoff losses
• How much support championship quarterbacks actually receive
• Buffalo's regular-season defense vs. its playoff performance
• The difference between having talented teammates and having championship-level support
• Why great quarterbacks need games where somebody else saves them
• The danger of being Superman
Join the conversation:Does Josh Allen need to do more to get Buffalo over the hump — or have the Bills simply asked him to do too much?

The Buffalo Bills’ decision to trade Sedrick Van Pran-Granger to the Indianapolis Colts might seem like a minor roster move — but the deeper we looked, the bigger the questions became.
Since taking over as Bills GM, Brandon Beane has built one of the NFL’s most consistent contenders. He’s found franchise-changing talent in the draft, uncovered starters in the middle and late rounds, and built a roster around Josh Allen that has competed for a championship year after year.
So why hasn’t Buffalo actually won one?
On this episode of The Post Podium Podcast, we use the Van Pran-Granger trade as the starting point for a much larger examination of Brandon Beane’s roster-building philosophy.
How successful has Beane really been at turning draft picks into legitimate Bills starters? How does his record compare with the general managers who actually won the last seven Super Bowls? Has Buffalo occasionally moved on from young players before truly discovering what they could become? And what can the Wyatt Teller trade teach us about the risk of choosing veteran stability over young-player development?
But the biggest question might have nothing to do with Beane’s ability to draft.
When we compared Buffalo’s approach with recent Super Bowl champions, a fascinating difference emerged: championship GMs have repeatedly stacked multiple proven impact veterans onto already-good teams when their Super Bowl window opened.
Brandon Beane has made his swings — Stefon Diggs. Von Miller. Rasul Douglas. Amari Cooper.
But has he ever gone far enough?
Maybe the reason Buffalo hasn’t gotten over the hump isn’t because Brandon Beane is bad at his job.
Maybe it’s because he’s been too disciplined to do what other Super Bowl-winning GMs were willing to do.
We’re digging into the numbers, the trades, the draft history, and the roster-building decisions behind one question:
What is Brandon Beane missing?
