Subscriber Episode: Stop Fighting For The Bare Minimum (Day 1)
10m | Jul 27, 2026I am no longer available for playing (or living) small, or and my guess is that if you are listening to this, it's true for you as well. Part of me wants to lean into what my fears say - that there won't be enough, that the gifts I have don't matter, that I am destined for struggle mode - when in my heart I know 1000% that those things aren't true. So here I am, speaking to you, sharing a challenge that many of us have faced at some point in our lives. When big, bold growth scares us, our instinct is to grab onto small, sometimes harmful distractions because sometimes "having this is better than nothing at all." I created a five day reflection that challenges the narrative that we can only have the bare minimum.
Today is day one and we’re unpacking a personal story about me spending 30 minutes chasing down a job in a store. I talked about this in a separate episode which you can listen to here. This was a job I didn't even want.
When big, beautiful visions scare us, our brains often create a distraction, something to cling to, that looks like safety or productivity, but is actually just a way to play ourselves smaller than what we are blooming into.
Day one is about catching yourself in the act.
Key Takeaways:
- How self-sabotage disguises itself as productive hustle.
- Why we grab onto small distractions when our true vision feels intimidating.
- How to spot where you're expending energy on things you don't actually want.
Today’s Micro-Action:
Identify your own "store run." Name one area in your life where you are frantically pushing for a situation that is too small for you—and give yourself permission to stop fighting for it.
