The Room Where It Happens [Ep. 148]
A simple way to get more opportunities š
I was in the room when it happenedā¦
For the first time in two years, I was able to attend the Congressional Black Caucus in person.
It was an incredible event, but I didnāt just go to listen and take notesā¦
I went there as an active participant, fully engaged with the attendees (some of whom I knew and some I didnāt) who were in the room šŖš¾
And these are the opportunities that happened because of this ā¬ļø
ā Invited to watch the Senior Vice President of Global Supply Diversity for Hyatt speak about diversity, inclusion, and equity for companies and corporations
ā Attended a morning brunch with Melanie Campbell from the Black Womenās Roundtable
ā Exchanged phone numbers with an executive from Goldman Sachs
ā Received an exclusive invitation to a Gala that originally cost $2,000
And so much more.
Being in the room and doing nothing gets you nowhere.
Make yourself available, have those introductory conversations, and change your future.
On the podcast, I share:
š„ How I made essential connections through this ONE event and opened up so many doors
š„ How you can become a resource for others when youāre in the room when it happens
š„ My challenge for you
If youāre ready to be in the room where transformations happen, then itās time to move outside of your comfort zone and šš¾ get šš¾ things šš¾ done.
