Ep. #435: December 6-14, 1990

4h 15m | Dec 11, 2023

Kris and David are guestless as we discuss the week that was December 6-14, 1990. Topics of discussion include:

  • The state of the search for a new booker in WCW, with Dusty Rhodes seemingly being the lead candidate or maybe already secretly having the job.
  • Barry Windham taking control of the dressing room at the TV tapings and how barely anyone caught on to what was likely going on with him serving as Dusty’s proxy.
  • Lots of debuts in WCW at the TV tapings, including Konnan, Larry Cameron, Steve DiSalvo as The Minotaur.
  • Teddy Long taking Ric Flair out for a ride in Flair's limo.
  • AJPW's year ending with the Real World Tag League and how it capped off a great year for the promotion despite the turmoil stemming from the SWS talent raid.
  • NJPW doing big business while pushing Scott the newest big foreign monster.
  • The first ever SWS/WWF joint shows.
  • CMLL doing big business with their year-end shows at Arena Mexico.
  • Dick Slater’s stunt work in the climactic scene of Rocky V.
  • The Fabulous Ones reunite in Memphis while Jerry Lawler has a bounty on his head.
  • Joe Pedicino getting his GWF ducks in a row. In thoery.
  • Herb Abrams runs his last UWF TV taping of the year in Reseda, California before moving operations to New York in 1991.
  • The Nasty Boys make their WWF TV debut while Honky Tonk Man makes his commentary debut on Superstars.
  • The first issue of Titan Sports’ Bodybuilding Lifestyles magazine, which would soon be rebranded as WBF Magazine.

This is great stuff, but there’s much more where that came from, so listen now!!!
