Friday Septemeber 11 was the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 when Gander and other communities in the province welcomed nearly 7000 stranded airline passengers and crew after U.S. airspace closed during the terrorist attacks. One of those communities is the Central Newfoundland town of Appleton. The town held a special service to commemorate the 25 th Anniversary of the events of 9/11 at the Derm Flynn Riverfront Peace Park which displays a piece of steel from the twin towers.Bay Fm's Dean Clarke caught up with Derm Flynn by phone who reflected on that tragic day a quarter of a century ago.
