What a day it was at Margaret Bowater Park for the 1st ever West Coast Polka Dot Trot for the Cancer Care Foundation. 55 teams, 370 trotters representing 37 communities through out the region. Total raised $102,170. Just a couple days before the event Laura Ivany from the Cancer Care Foundation and Penney Simms visited Bay Fm.

Friday Sept 11 was the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. While most of the diverted passengers landed in Gander, The Town of Stephenville was also very instrumental that day, 13 aircraft landed at Stephenville Airport. The town held a 9/11 service in the community on Friday, honouring the heroes and victims. Former Stephenville Mayor Tom Rose was an Air Traffic Controller at the time. He spoke to Lenny Benoit on Bay Fm.

Friday Septemeber 11 was the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 when Gander and other communities in the province welcomed nearly 7000 stranded airline passengers and crew after U.S. airspace closed during the terrorist attacks. One of those communities is the Central Newfoundland town of Appleton. The town held a special service to commemorate the 25 th Anniversary of the events of 9/11 at the Derm Flynn Riverfront Peace Park which displays a piece of steel from the twin towers.Bay Fm&#39;s Dean Clarke caught up with Derm Flynn by phone who reflected on that tragic day a quarter of a century ago.
