Flee and Pursue
55m | Oct 6, 2026Escaping Lust and Chasing God Together
Using 2 Timothy 2:22 (NKJV), Ps. Ryan teaches three commands: flee youthful lusts, pursue righteousness/faith/love/peace, and pursue “with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” Lust is described as reckless and destructive. Ps. Ryan says the battle is often lost in close-range “wrestling,” so the practical strategy is to exit tempting spaces quickly (like Joseph) rather than linger (like Samson).
However, fleeing alone is not enough; an “empty house” can be reoccupied (Matthew 12:44–45), so desires must be replaced by filling the heart with God through the Word, worship, and devotion. Finally, believers must pursue God in community; the church is one united body (“echad”) that sharpens and supports each other toward God’s presence and lasting victory.
